i'm in the progress of making a (Human) Damaran Monk/Paladin of Ilmater (go figure) based around the Astectic Knight Feat from CaD, and seriusly thinking of jumping the Sacred Vow / Vow of Poberty feat Combo from Exalted Deeds at the startout and Imp Natural Attack rather early (level 6'th, 9'th or 12'th depending on weather i'm going to grab Leadership and/or Versatile Unarmed Strike and how fast i want them)... anyone got some good ideas to how to make sure that it don't get to machanic and 'unbelieveable' but still useable in the frontline together with a Shapeshifting Druid (Variant from PHBII) ?

I'll look into it as best I can. I don't have a copy of the Book of Exalted Deeds in Australia with me, but a friend of mine has one in the US. I'll see if he can link me some of the Sacred Vow / Vow of Poverty info so I can help you out.

As he knelt on the ground with his brothers around and the taste of his blood on his tongue, His brothers knelt by him and prayed him a prayer, and he smiled and he laughed and he sung, "Brothers, oh brothers, my days here are done, the Dornishman's taken my life, But what does it matter? For all men must die, and I've tasted the Dornishman's wife!" |

if you are going to be on the front line, you need to think mechanically. as far as believability, that's where your storytelling comes in with descriptions. i use the BeD all the time and i think the vow of poverty is very interesting for the monk class(most earthly monk orders do). my question is can a human, with no natural attk, take the imp. natural attk feat? |

a Monks Unarmed attack is a Natural Attack ... "a monks unarmed attack is treated both as a manufactured weapon and a natural weapon for the purpose of spells and effects that enchance or improve either manufactured or natural weapons (such as 'magic fang' and 'magic weapon' spells) |

First of all, let me just say that your character concept is awesome, and you'll have a really good time playing that PC.
Second, one of the players (in a previous campaign I DMed) played a similar character. I have the PDF character sheet still, if you wish me to send it. Vow of Poverty is absolutely brilliant, and if I ever play a monk, I will take that feat (the only challenge is for the DM to artificially reduce the loot by one "share" otherwise things get crazy for the rest of the party...) |

well PDK ... as far as i can read the feat the loot should still be the same and i should still get my share ... i just have to throw the loot and money after orphanages and churches i know will use them for helping less fortunate, but i would like to see the sheet so just throw it after me :) |
