I am new here. And what brought me her is the question:
What are the Red Wizards of Thay? What deity do they follow. And what is their alignment?

Welcome to Candlekeep Elmar,
You may wish to post your questions in a different area, as this place is for introductions.
Unfortunatly I am no kind of expert on the Red Wizards but I am sure we have plenty of scribes here who can answer that question.
Good luck, |

Yes indeed, welcome Elmar.
Your topic of inquiry is a worthy one, but I fear that the Keeper of Tomes may be rather upset if we discuss such weighty matters here in the entrance hall. Talk more within ...

Welcome to the Great LIbrary of Candlekeep!
I hope you enjoy your stay here and find the knowledge you seek. Now, as for the Red Wizards of Thay, they are an organization of wizards that rule over the far-eastern land of Thay. The Red Wizards are the rulers of the magocratic Thay, and are the highest class in Thayvan society. The Red Wizards are the consumated evil wizards, bent on conquest. They are highly interested in conquoring Rashemen and Algorand, but as of yet have been unsucessful. They are also a major merchant power, opening enclaves all over the Realms that deal in minor magical items at cut rate prices. As such, almost all cities in the Realms, as far west as the Sword Coast, will probably have an enclave (Red Wizard operations are limited in the Dales and Waterdeep, due to the actions of the Chosen of Mystra to bar Red Wizard expansion in those regions).
As a whole the Red Wizards are not overly religious, as are most power hungry mortals, however the diety Kossuth, the Elemental God of Fire, have a fairly sizable following in Thay, although the church is generally unorganized. Mystra is also an option, though if memory serves not the most popular due to her leaning on the side of good. As a rule of thumb they do not get bogged down in matters of religion.
I hope I have answered your questions to some degree of satisfaction. So, once again welcome and good luck. |
