Well met

Well once the photos have been located, i'll be happy to place them up on the site proper and provide a link here on the forums, if someone could email them over to me

I'll looking forward to seeing a band of our fellow scribes together.

If Sage is coming count me in!

Sage there will be a cold ale (or 2) waiting for you!

I intended for this year to be my first Con, but with the baby on the way and the pregnancy being on the dificult side I just couldn't spare the time.
Looks like next year should be perfect for me. Even though I live just north of Indy, I am thinking about getting a room to maximize my time!

P.S, Forgive my ignorance on the subject, but can anyone explain What the Living Realms Campaign is?

Thanks!!

Ed typically doesn't know his con schedule until the very last minute (sometimes publishers phone him while he's at the con, saying they are flying in and can he meet them at such-and-such a place and so-and-so a time), but would LOVE to meet with Candlekeep scribes.
Two years back, he and Jeff Thetford got themselves to the decided-upon Candlekeep meeting place but found no one else, so they had a "meeting of two" whereat they happily discussed Realms fiction plans.
Ed tends to like a somewhat quiet place where folks can sit down (and hopefully drink refreshing beverages, alcohol optional), when he meets, because talking's thirsty work.
* I * like places where clothing's optional, but I'm sure Indiana has laws that will get ikn the way of such schemes.

THO,

I am sure we can figure something out here in Indiana for you. Afterall, It's only illegal if you get caught!

And I am sure I speak for all the scribes when I say that anywhere Ed is comfortable, will work for us!

Dear Scribes,

Real-life has interceded by sending my wife and I our firstborn, due at the end of March this year!

Therefore, our family schedule will be such that GENCON will probably not happen for me, yet AGAIN. I will keep you posted, but alas, I believe this won't happen.

Best regards to all the Scribes going. May you meet Ed and have fun!

I want to go, but since I've got to keep most of my time off for the wedding and honeymoon, then just about all other time off is not happening.

Heh, and again, another good reason to miss out. And again, my best regards to you both.

As far as me going . . . I have taken the time off, but I'm not sure how the funds are looking quite yet for the trip. Every year something seems to come up, so we'll see. I hate to say anything definite before I know for sure.

I've recently been "prompted" into putting some serious consideration into attending GenCon this year.

More as it develops.

HEHEHE. Innocent smile. Whistles and walks away.

For some of us, books are as important as almost anything else on earth. What a miracle it is that out of these small, flat, rigid squares of paper unfolds world after world, worlds that sing to you, comfort and quiet and excite you... Books are full of the things that you don't get in real life - wonderful, lyrical language, for instance, right off the bat. - Anne Lamott, Bird by Bird

Also,

For a serious post, prereg starts on Feb 3rd! And hotel reg is a day after.

And I've been told that I'm going this year, so I guess I don't have much say in the matter.

I believe I'll be attending this year for the 3rd year in a row, after missing many years. I still miss Milwaukee, but the new location's growing on me. At least it's slightly easier to find some venues instead of the old tangle between the convention center and MECCA.....

Actually, the POWER of the Lady K is pretty much the only thing that can COMPEL me to attempt something like this.

I still haven't decided whether that is a good thing or not.

So you're bringing the Lady K? Or she is bringing you?
Either way, Sage: do it. Go to Gencon Indy at least once in your life.
I know Gencon is coming to Oz, but I have NO idea how they're going to cram any decent con into the venue they're planning to use (having recently been involved in a little security matter thereabouts, in my "day job"). You MUST see the original. It's huge, overwhelming, and I doubt I can be there this year.
However, talk to George Krashos about his first time experiences, talk to me and Jeff Thetford and Garen Thal and Steven Schend and many another scribe here about good hotels and restaurants and things you SHOULD NOT MISS (e.g. the art show, the exhibit hall overkill, even the Killer Breakfast if you're a Dragonlance fan), and I'm sure Ed will stand you lunch or dinner or drinks if he can spare any time at the con at all to hook up with you (his con schedule is truly exhausting!). UPS or one of the other courier companies actually has a shipping booth just outside the exhibit hall, so you can send loot home you don't want to try to stickhandle through Australian or US customs. :}
Do it. One way or another.
A hotel can cost two grand for the whole con if you grab one of the big ones attached to the con center, or a lot less if you taxi or drive a rental car in from the burbs (parking garage right across from the RCA Dome, North side) every day. Food can be very expensive, or you can eat at Subway and save bucks. And so on.
But go. Treat yourself to gamer overload. You won't regret it!
love,
THO

A lot of this is what I said to him over chat when I tried to talk him into going a week or so ago, which is why him and I were joking about it over on page 2. :)

Oops, looks like I missed this post

Alas not, Ergdusch. I received a few some time ago which were a little blurred and of the outer centre, but nothing with any scribes etc.

Indy is a great town. If the scribes that have mentioned going make it, there will be no excuses for me not to go to my first Gencon.

We live 25-30 minutes north of Indy and like to spend a day down there every month when we are able.

Great food. Some is even cheap if ya know where to go and don't mind walking a few blocks.

I know I am biased, but no city in the world is more appreciative of visitors and treats them better than Indy!

Well, there's a first time for everything.
