Just a question: if in time of troubles Myrkul and bane killed all assassins in a ritual made for gaining Bhaal's power, why didn't artemis die like all others?

Id never heard that Myrkul and Bane actually did that Where did you read about it?!
If they did then im very shocked! Maybe they only killed all assassins who worshipped dieties like Mask etc. Artemis may not have had a deity.

They did that in the avatar trilogy. it's one of the causes of the death of Bhaal...he would not be dead now if they didn't weaken him this much.

Tiax brings up a good point, I would have agree with him, plus if you think about it, none of the FR books are "Really linked" if you know what I mean, some are some are kinda seperate in there own way I guess The Great Drizzt |

They killed only Assassins that called the Lord of Assassins thier god. typically those types of rituals involve the "faithful" we know Artemis calls no god his. |

I believe its mykrul, and yep, I dont believe Atemis had anything to do with any gods, as a matter of fact, I dont believed he liked gods for a personal reason he had. The Great Drizzt |

Many people despise gods, Mortals, they always need more, they can never let things be. |

Actually Drizzt, Myrkul isn't lord of assassins. Myrkul is still dead by my knowledge. Cyric is Lord of Murder and therefor Lord of Assassins. |

They killed all assassins that was under bhaal's control. Artemis doesn't believe or worship a god.

How do you not believe in the existence of the gods in Faerun?
It seems like every other day Llira and Tymora and Tyr and Mystra drop in in person to say hello and have a drink......
Still, as wicked as Artemis is....I think I'll allow him the one fault..... |
My latest Realms-based short story, about a bard, a paladin of Lathander and the letter of the law, Debts Repaid. It takes place before the "shattering" and gives the bard Arion a last gasp before he plunges into the present.http://candlekeep.com/campaign/logs/log-debts.htm |

True, Artemis is pretty bad, but if youve read all the drizzt books, he doesnt "want" to kill, he just does out of necessity, or when he has to. The Great Drizzt |

Artemis is not a man of emotions...He lives to perfect his skills... he does not kill when there is no need to kill... before Drizzt and underdark with jar'laxle ,he didn't have any emotions. After seeing the Drow in action he came to same knowledge with Drizzt...There have to be some emotions. Ưn "Servant of the Shard" He began to understand emotions but it is another subject. The fact is before going in the underdark and before meeting with drizzt he did not have any sipiritual emotions like worshipping a god or love or pity...So black magic that killed assasins in the process didn't effect him... Also he is not in real assasin format ,he is like some master swordsman living to perfection, not to gain wealth or feel the pleasure to kill a being. He is an assasin in the first place because his environment tought him to kill.He killed to live, and again he killed to hone his skills...This another reason that he didn't die in time of troubles... |

Excellent explanation Sabre, after having just read the short story in the Realms of Shadow anthologies about Entreri, I do think you're dead on with these comments. Mister cool himself still doesn't show much emotion, though there is something simmering just below the surface. It might be a question of time before that comes back to haunt him... perhaps meeting Drizzt in the flesh again would trigger such an event.
just my 2cp here... |

Bhaal only killed the assassins that payed lip service to him, Artemis dont need a god to help him get his job done, the gods didnt do him any good so why should he do them any good. He believes in his own skills instead of skills of an absent minded god who i would say really didnt care that much for his worshipers. I mean, if one of his worshipers was about to be murdered would he do anything about it ? No cos Bhaal was the lord of murder, therefore if he interfered he would prevent what he stands for as a god. |
A wise man from Calimport once told me: "If a merchant puts sand in the flask of oil he's trying to sell you, then he isn't trying to sell you sand..." |
