Hello once again. I was recently looking through my FR Campaign setting book and came across a map of Abeir-Toril, and surprising i haven't seen the map before. Needless to say it was HUGE. So I was trying to see if anything on some of the continents have been updated. I know so far we have:
Faerun
Zakhara
Maztica
Kara-Tur

Just wondering if I missed any others. I noticed their was about 5 or 6 other continents that it showed including one rather massive one. All were named Unknown also, which was wierd to me because you would think they would all be known about now. I am just trying to get all the information on this as I can and any input would be appreicated. Also, would anybody know if any source material for the others continents would be slated for release in the 3rd edition rules? I would really like some more Kara-Tur stuff (note I did find some various little tidbits throughout 3rd edition Dragon and Dungeon mags so I won't count those, thanks) Thanks ahead of time though.

Sure wish we could get a conversion for the Yellow Dragon!

Kara-Tur was detailed in 1ed Oriental Adventures; you can find some information about it here.

From what they have be been hinting, the designers involved in the Grand History of the Realms have some hints about the other continents coming out this fall.

As I've often said in reply to such questions... Given WotC's "Realms-centric" focus over the core publishing period of 3e FR, it seems unlikely that Kara-Tur will feature prominently in the Realmslore in the foreseeable future.

For the most part, it was being left to future DRAGON articles [unlikely now given the cancellation of the DRAGON and DUNGEON Magazines] and the odd occasional references in sourcebooks and novels to carry forward any lore about Kara-Tur -- such as Unapproachable East and The Yellow Silk. Elements of Kara-Tur received a 3e update back in Jan. 04, in DRAGON #315. And a couple of regions in Kara-Tur also received a brief nod in "The Horde" article of DRAGON #349 and its associated PDF supplement from paizo.com:- http://paizo.com/dragonissues/349/DR349_Supplement.pdf

Other than that, keep watching Candlekeep for a future Compendium release [sometime later this year] which will devote a significant number of its pages to new lore about Kara-Tur and other elements indicative of that particular region of Toril. Also, as KEJR noted above, Grand History of the Realms will have a handful of new timeline events concerning Kara-Tur.

Note also, my early laborers articles in the Compendium have at least 1 NPC for each of the other continents.

Some Maztica material was also updated in Dragon for 3/3.5e.

For some of us, books are as important as almost anything else on earth. What a miracle it is that out of these small, flat, rigid squares of paper unfolds world after world, worlds that sing to you, comfort and quiet and excite you... Books are full of the things that you don't get in real life - wonderful, lyrical language, for instance, right off the bat. - Anne Lamott, Bird by Bird

Cool, thank you all. That's too bad about the 3rd edition content but it's like you said luckily we have a few different earlier sources of info, now i just need to try and find them lol. I will keep an eye out for later compendiums this year, I think that would be very nice. I guess I would like to add now, anybody know anything about Zakhara, I suppose that's the one I know the least about other than it was the campaign source for Al-Quadim I believe. I know their were also a few sources for this one in a few dragon mags, other than that I can't think of any 3rd edition material. Thanks again gentlemen

I hope the Grand History is a good book, I've been looking forward to it since I heard about it coming out *fingers crossed*

Sure wish we could get a conversion for the Yellow Dragon!

Well, the Sha'ir class from Zakhara was given 3.5 treatment in one of the "Campaign Classics" issues of Dragon, and the class also appears in the Dragon Compendium Volume One. Not much about the actual setting though.
