Greetings,

I am just curious as to which Realm's Anthology everybody likes. My favorite would have to be Realms of Shadow, followed closely by Realms of the Underdark.

Let's hear what the rest of you think...

Good learning...

I would agree, to a degree.

To me Realms of Mystery was probably my least favorite. It did have it's moments however. My favorite story of that collection would have to be Elaine Cunningham's, Speaking with the Dead.

The anthologies were just so...

Useless.

I liked them. Even my brother gets them, and he's not fond of short stories. (There's one series that we both enjoy that has three anthologies, and he's only recently (after about five years) reading them. He just got tired of this latest book referring to things he'd never heard of.)

Hell hath no fury like all of Candlekeep rising in defense of one of its own.

That doesn't mean anything. How can you define if a book is useless or not? Since ONE person liked it (including the author) i think it worths writing it

Indeed. Some elaboration on this statement would be quite welcome.

well i hope they make a nice job of the new Best of the Realms anthology due out later this year. It should be presented as a nice "introduction to the Realms" type of collection. Something that you can pass over to your non-Realms-understanding partner who can read the stories to get the flavor of the Realms

You know, our work was not considered an anthology and is therefore not in the running for the Best Of... Our work was a novel in seven parts!

Well Voronica, the Sembia Series might not be in the Best of... anthology, but IMO, it sure is THE BEST novel series to be published for FR!! I dont think ive ever enjoyed a set of novels so much, Realms or not! Its too early to judge WotSQ yet as its only two books in, two excellent books though, so im putting Sembia and WotSQ as THE BEST of the Realms, without a doubt!
