I have been running a group of characters for several years now, and the players wanted to go back to them for awhile. They are all epic levels. But I also wanted to finish City of the Spider Queen.

Imagine Randal Morn's face when the characters that are applying to figure out the drow problem are all epic level.

It is fun. I like doing an adventure every now and then where the POWERFUL characters get to bask in thier glory. They really will not get any XP out of the City of the Spider Queen now, but it will be fun to see a bunch of undead and darkelves cry like babies.

Why are they going to investigate the drow city? Because as the Ranger said "It will be fun and Nostalgic. Just like old times..."

You can always get Kiaransalee directly involved. I'm sure a group of epics would love to lay the smackdown on her.

THANK YOU MOURNBLADE!!

So many times have I heard DM's whine about powerful characters and how hard it is to create a challenge for them or scare them.

DnD is about the experience, journey and the tale it doesn't have to be life or death for the pc's necessarily as long as it's about something the PC's care about.

I have run entire 6 hour sessions without anyone lifting a blade.
I have also run 6 hour sessions without anyone putting away their blades. It's all about the story.

When Nighteyes goes to Menzobezzerezzeaiazren (whatever the capitol city of the Drow is called)to kick some I don't expect him to break a sweat 'til he gets to the portal to the Abyss itself. Ok maybe that's an exaggeration but you get the point.

The satisfaction doesn't come from making difficult die rolls but from doing something important to the character. He hates what the Drow and Lolth represents. With every Drow body that hits the floor he knows that at least one more innocent is safer now and that love and beauty stand a better chance of survival. Whew! got all worked up there...

Its been a blast!

Well a combat round is 6 seconds so needless to say there are many Vrocks, Vampires, and Bebeliths that lasted ONLY 6 seconds. I don't care what anyone says, it is FUN to see your characters tear through arrogant evil things in 6 seconds. It would get boring if it happened all the time, but this is great for a change.

Since the priest turns near 40 HD level worth of undead, it is making the module very very fun.

And that is a great idea about Kiaranshelee (I totally mispelled that right), but given the characters reputation, (I adapted Demonweb pits to the forgotten realms, and when these characters were lower level in 2nd ed, they sent Lloth for a ride) there is a good chance she will not show up. One character is treated as a divine agent by Mielikki. SO they are known through the planes.

Whatever it is all good fun.
