Well met and welcome to Candlekeep Yack! Feel free to make yourself at home and ask questions. |
"What's that," asked Mogget. "Sardines," said Sam. "I knew they were standard rations, so I got a few tins for you." "What are sardines?" Moggest asked suspiciously. "And why is there a key? Is this some sort of Abhorsen joke?" Abhorsen by Garth Nix

Hail and Honor, Welcome to Candlekeep. Please sit back and relax with a tome, talk to a scribe or have a pint at the Inn. Again, welcome to Candlekeep!

See, Zemd, you aren't the only one with a non-English greeting now. |

And what does that mean? And what language is it? |

It's Gaelic. Specifically, Irish Gaelic. And it's the traditional greeting to a newcomer -- "A hundred thousand welcomes."
I just decided to dig up a root of my family tree. Of course, part of my family left France during the Revolution -- they seemed to have an allergic reaction to the guiotine. But far be it for me to seem to be copying off of you. |
