From Rich Baker:
>>RB: No poster map, but there is an 11 by 17 map (a two-page spread) of the Underdark below all of Faerun, plus a number of city and site maps. Obviously, the 2-page spread can't show detail to the same degree that the poster map in Drizzt's Guide did (hey, it was a poster and it only covered western Faerun), but there are many, many details in areas outside the North and Shanatar that haven't ever been seen before.

And, time for speculation.
It's thought the censored race is either the Derro (so thinks many on the EN World boards) or the Desmodu (So think many on the Realms list).

Why are there entries "[censored]" in the chapters? Did the forum think you were talking dirty? |

Not Quite. Just as the posted ToC for Unapproachable East had censored areas, so does this. I'm guessing they're things meant to be a surprise, or top secret. (Or Rich Baker just likes keeping us all in suspense.) |

This book looks like it is going to include alot of information, i am just surprised it hasnt been released already, with the Year of the Drow and all that Spider queen nonsense . Ha! well actually the underdark is an execlent place to adventure, and the politics of the drow leads to intreging gaming. This looks like a very good accessory, but is it a Forgotten Realms book or just a genric D&D book. Also how does it fit in the the Year of the Drow? Hanx Elrond |
Once upon a midnight dreary, while i pondered, weak and weary, Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore- While i nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping, As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door. -The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe |

It's a Forgotten Realms book.
And, the Drow are only going to be a small part of it. Year of the Drow was last year. Since this'll cover (supposedly) the entire underdark, there'll be stuff with Illithids, Duergar, possibly normal Dwarves, Svirfneblin and others.
It's easy to forget that there are other realms/'nations' in the Underdark than the Drow, due to how TSR and WotC loved to write about Drow this and Drow that, but they are there and rather extensive.
I myself hope they tell more on Araumycos. The Great Fungus beneath the High Forest. |
