I wanted to discuss the FR cosmology wich because i'm interested in this extraplanar things and also in FR but the 3rd edition material has little about the FR cosmology. How was it in 2nd edition, was it discussed at all or was it just the plain planescape cosmology that was used then?

Is there any word on if they are gonna release a special book about it or are they gonna leave it as it is for now. The should at least release a small free netbook with information set up in the Manual of the Planes format so we can know more.

What creatures live in the outer planes, Githzerai and Githyankis or are they only in the original cosmology, what about the Abyss and the Nine hells, arre they the same as the original or a little different?

Any thoughts or official canon material you know about, let's discuss it here.

I would love them to release a book on FR cosmology. The FR Handbook has a little bit of info on it. I have no info on 2e cosmology, and dont know much about it either. I have a map of the 3e planes and thats the extent of my knowledge regarding planes. Good idea though Thorin.

The result is a paralyzing existence that the drow call the edge of readiness." -Drizzt Do'Urden

There are details on Toril and its moons which includes a map, in the Realmspace accessory (which is actually a Spelljammer product).

2E FR cosmology was Planescape cosmology. They ripped FR out of Planescape cosmology in 3E. I hate them for it.

As far as 3E info goes, I believe there is a version of The Manual of the Planes out there. The creatures and where they dwell are all stil the same I believe, just in 3E stats. Also, as you probably know, Demons are now T'annari, and Devils are now B'attezu. (or is that backwards?)Love that politcal correctness!

In 2E, there are many sourcebooks you can read that have much info on the planes and their make-up.
*Manual of the Planes (Actually 1E, but, converted easily enough. Still the 'bible' of planes lore. )
*Several books from the Planescape setting have some good info on the cosmology of D&D, not the least of which is the box set.
*Several issues from Dragon magazine have some good articles on this topic (Sorry, I can't remeber which issues, but if you have the Dragon Archive CDRoms, just do a search on the key words)

The Monstrous Compendium for the Outer planes is a great resource for finding out about demons and devils, as well as the good aligned and other creatures that dwell there.

That's about all I can think of off the top of my head.

All good and true Yasraena but all that info is about the Planescape cosmology or the D&D cosmology as they have come to call it, the FR cosmolgy is a different cosmology.

Kinda aggree with you there Lowtech but either world had to step away from the planescape, Forgotten Realms or Greyhawk. At least let's hope that the FR cosmolgy will be quite unique to the world.

One thing is for sure is that demons and devils are still there and I remember reading about some of the known demon lords in FR material so maybe they all exist in FR like the racial pantheons do.
Old goodies like Baphemot and Orcus.

Of course the Abyss isn't exectly the same as the official, cause the 66th layer wich is the Demonweb Pits wich is a plane in itself in FR.

But creatures like Githzerai who lived in the astral could still exist but where would they be without there age old enemies Githyanki wich lived in Limbo (or was it the other way around) wich was a plane in the official cosmology but doesn't exist in FR cosmology. And what about the all time favorit Sigil: The City of Doors.

Yes we neccaserily (hmmm not sure how to write that) need more info about FR cosmology. Let's all go and put pressure on the Wizards of the Coast.
