I have Races of Faerun. But my main question is about specific Wild Elf communities of note, or Wild Elf NPC's whose names have shown up in novels or sourcebooks. I have something rather grand planned for one of my half elven player characters whose elven mother was a green elf and need all the information I can.

And if the PCs DO win their ways through all the liches to Larloch, “he” will almost certainly be just another lich (loaded with explosive spells) set up as a decoy, with dozens of hidden liches waiting to pounce on any surviving PCs who ‘celebrate’ after they take Larloch down. Exactly,
So anything about wild elves was invented for 3e since as Dan said, the wood/wild elves of 1e and 2e were the same race and it wasn't until 3e that WOTC split them into two different subraces, for some odd reason.
Shining South for 3.5e has a little info on a few wild elven settlements. |

Indeed.
I'll note that Races of Faerûn does suggest that in the period after, or rather during the aftermath of, the Crown Wars, the green elves went in one of two cultural directions - there were those that stayed wild and thus remained greens, or those that adopted a more civilised mindset and became wood (copper) elves.
Though, for me, these cultural differences aren't enough to completely justify significant differences in racial stats.

| The 3E books FRCS, Races of Faerun, and Shining South are your best sources. You could also do some research on Fenmarel Mestarine the elven god of outcasts as he seems to be closely affiliated with wild elves (or the wood elves reclassified as wild elves) in a few sources like Demihuman Deities and Faiths and Pantheons IIRC. As noted, prior to 3E, wild elves were just labels on the map and assumed to be wood elves as wild elves, aka, the grugach were so Greyhawk centric. In 3E that changed to the consternation of more than a few. |
