Well folks,

We finally finished Bestiary of the Realms Vol. 2, and Eric has posted it up on his boards here: http://www.ericlboyd.com/dnd/monsters.html

As this is our second volume, you’ll find several score new or converted monsters, as well as a few different interpretations of monsters that have already been converted.

A word of caution, just as many official 3E and 3.5E monsters did not slavishly follow earlier write-ups of those monsters, neither do the monsters herein. Instead, we did our best to consider all sources, hopefully make full and creative use of the 3.5E rules (including non-core WotC books), and in many cases add a little bit here and there to many of the monsters, even if it was in only adding or updating their Realms lore. A few have even been renamed.

Good gaming. We hope you enjoy it.

And I was just going to post a query in the actual "Bestiary" scroll... asking how goes the progress on this second volume.

Just had time for a quick scan so far...

I love the inclusion of the New Moon Pact details from Mistress of the Night. That was a fascinating part of Selunite lore.

Good stuff.

Fantastic work; even for a non 3.ed gamer with many of the original versions of the creatures there's plenty of information here.

Thanks.

Excellent work all around. Stuff I can use right away in game. Thank you!

I like how you decided to make the Aspect of the Shedavari instead of the actual creature itself. Very appropriate!

Great work guys. I've been waiting for this one for a long time, and from what I have seen as I have been skimming over this though, its a great resource. Thanks for putting in the time on it.

On another note, that was a brilliant idea, tying the Night Parade to the Plane of Nightmares (Self Serving Link Location here:http://www.candlekeep.com/library/articles/regionofdreams.htm)

I always like it when I'm on the same wavelength as some of the great minds of Realmslore.

Judging by my preliminary flick through, it looks to be as good as I'd expect. Great work, guys.

Indeed a great piece of work. Thanks gents. This'll see use for sure... first creatures I'll play with (as DM) will be the Cairn and the Barrowe. I would also have to agree with KJER on the Nightparade. Neat piece of realmslore.

Thanks everyone. Glad you're enjoying it. (And KnightErrant, alas, I can't take credit for tying the Night Parade to the Demiplane as that occurred IIRC in the Netheril timelines of Lost Empires of Faerun.)

Good gaming.

Thanks for bringing up where that was actually, I was wondering if it was referenced in any official source. I probably remembered it from there, before I started musing myself.

The reference re the Night Parade is actually from the Calimport accessory ands repeated in Cloak & Dagger.

The work on the Night Parade has made me intrigued enough to try and track down the additional sources on it. As far as I'm concerned, work which gets me thinking and interested like that is well worth its weight in platinum pieces.

The best source on the Night Parade will always be the novel of the same name. The book has a undeservedly (in my opinion I should say)bad reputation, but I have never felt that the game versions presented the parade as perfectly as the novel.

I'm having some trouble downloading this. As in - it won't. When I right click and save as, I do not get a window asking me to save it and nothing else happens.

Similarly, when I try and open it from the site I get the little downloading icon in the bottom left hand corner of IE and then nothing.

Any ideas?

Na-gang, I have no idea. I tried accessing it and had no problem. I'm not a tech guy, but maybe you can try from a different computer or perhaps the file is too big for your computer?

I've never understood that reaction. The novel remains one of my favorite, if not absolute favorites of all the novels (and I've read almost all of them).

I agree, but as I said we are a minority on this subject. Night Parade is without doubt my favorite and unfortunately, the books that gave me the "feeling" for my own campaigns, something that puts me a little at ods with much of the other published Realms. Calimport for example will always be the version in the book.

So now that folks have hopefully had a chance to take a look at the second bestiary, what didn't you like, what did you like, what did you think should have been done differently, what would you have liked to have seen expanded, what sparked new avenues of thought/ideas.... Any critiques or comments are welcome.

Also, any requests for Volume 3. Up to this point I've avoided duplicating work on the Creature Catalogue unless I had a very different take on a creature.

Thanks again everyone.
