Hello-
I just spent about 3 hours last night pouring through sources for Hill's Edge. I found info in:
1/2/3 Edition setting books Elminsters Ecology appendix 1 - Battle of the Bones Volo's guide to Sword Coast
Anyone familiar with anything else?
Also - a map was lacking. If there is one already - then thats great - if not - I can work on it myself.
Thanks in advance!

Hi!
You could use the info in Volo's Guide to draw a map yourself. That's what I did. Unfortunately it's just a drawing with pencil on paper and I don't have the means to scan it yet. But Volo tells us of many important buildings and their location. Just add what you need and voilą, there's your map.

Hello-
Aye - thats what I'm working on! I've spent a couple of days making notes so that I can get a feel of what it may look like. I will begin to sketch out a map soon.
One thing that might help - if anyone has any suggestions - is a known map for a settlement of approximately the same size. This would give me an idea of how expansive to make it. I scoured the 2nd Ed Realms of Adventure - and a number of other older sources, like Vilhoon, Cormyr, Dalelands etc -and was having trouble finding one that was close. I did find in UE a map of Uthmere - and its pop is listed as about 880 - compared to about 9700 for Hills Edge. Any other suggestions?
As an aside - it notes that there are two temples in Hills Edge in some sources - one to Lliira, and one to Cyric; The 3rd Ed FRCS makes no mention of either of them. It does mention Zhent caravans still moving through though. Mainly because I seem befuddled at the religious history of Bane/Xvim .. Cyric..Bane etc - what would be the likelihood that the Temple of Cyric remains? I know about the one in Llorkh from the novel Son of Thunder.
Lastly, in case anyone has any lore-related insight that might help pinpoint it - any thoughts on a DR-date for Volo's Gd to the Sword Coast - which has the most - and even somewhat extensive - information on Hill's Edge.
Thanks again!

Dhomal,
I think Volo's guide has the best available information on Hill's Edge. If something isn't updated in 3.x edition, consider it still to be both official and applying Realmslore. Thus, I think the temples still do exist. Strangely I can find no reference to the current ruler of the city in any of the sources? |

Hello-
Thanks for the reply Asgetrion! Yes, without a doubt Volo's is the Best source of information on Hill's Edge. While I understand that any lore not updated from an older source still holds true - certainly there are examples of things that would be obviously different - though not detailed yet in lore. With Bane's return, and the general dislike for Cyric within much of the Zhentarim now, and the close proximity of Darkhold - I was just curious if the temple of Cyric would be doing as well. The FRCS mentions that one faction in Darkhold is let by a Cyric-worshiper, but also mentions that Fzoul would prefer the Zhentarim to be fully a Banite organization - and if a leader can't be found soon - he will instill one himself. I tend to think the temple would not be doing so well, but would welcome other opinions on the matter. :)
As for a current ruler of Hill's Edge Volo's mentions that it is very hard to get someone to agree to be Mayor for a yaer, and that there is no Mayor as of now (whenever NOW is in Volo's!). In the FRCS - they mention that it is difficult to find a Mayoral candidate - and so I would extrapolate that there is no current Mayor.
