Over the last couple of days, I've been looking for more information about the Order of the Golden Way and just came across this award for gallantry in the military section of PoF. Does anyone know anything about what relationship, if any, exists between the two? To whit, if one is made a member of the Order of the Golden Way, is the 'Crusader of Thesk' medal the one you get pinned on you (and the one you flash when you want to cash in on its benefits)?
There's also a notation that the 'Crusader' medal is a ten-point award for battle. For those of us who don't have a copy of Heroes of Battle, how hard would it be for a character to earn such an award in-game? (For the purposes of role-playing such a situation, a comparisons to the real-life U.S. system of awards would also be appreciated - is it a Silver Star-equivalent, or higher, or lower?)
Mod Edit: Shifted to another shelf upon request from the OP.

D&D collection: Player's Handbook, Dungeon Master's Guide, Monster Manual I, Complete Arcane, Arms & Equipment Guide.
FR sourcebook collection: Dragons of Faerūn, Faiths & Pantheons, FRCS, Lords of Darkness, Monsters of Faerūn, Player's Guide to Faerūn, Power of Faerūn, Races of Faerūn, Silver Marches.
I just got back into this, okay? Give me time (or better yet money) - I'll catch up soon enough. |

Heroes of Battle isn't in front of me, but I believe a 10 point award was the highest award?? |

Indeed? [impressed whistle]
Though in going back to PoF, I have to confess that I mis-spoke in my original post; it seems that the CoT medal is a ten-point campaign award, which would seem to be a bird of quite a different feather (even without access to HoB).
Now, with the indulgence of the onlooking scribes, I'll ask a mod to kindly transfer this scroll over to the "Sages of Realmslore" section, which would seem to be a better place for it - and probably where it should have gone in the first place. After all, this section of the 'library' usually discusses matters of more immediate utility and slightly lower DC's. |

As I recall... the Order of the Golden Way award is referenced in the 2e Cormyr supplement.
Aside from the reference relating it to the Crusade against the Horde however, little true lore is offered.

There is Realmslore behind all the awards, although some of them are pretty obscure.
