Wanted: player for a long running (~5 years) PbeM to master a 4th level dwarven priest of Moradin with aspiration to become a Rune Caster (PrC). Rather than writing the character out of the game, the DM prefers to keep him along and hand the 'strings' to a new player. The character - Branith Rockbiter - has an existing background which can be further expanded upon / customized by the player taking over this character.

Branith Rockbiter
Male shield dwarf cleric 4 (Moradin)
LG Medium humanoid
Str 14, Dex 12, Con 12, Int 14, Wis 17, Cha 8
AC 16 (scale mail, small steel shield)
Feats: Spell casting prodigy, great fortitude, skill focus craft (stoneworking)

Branith's origins are in the Spine of the World, but the young dwarf's travels have brought him as far south as the southern Greenfields (Marpenoth, 1371 DR), and are likley to carry him further south and underground towards the ruins of Shanatar...

Branith is a stout and well respected member of a group of 'adventurers'. This band of companions includes:

  • a female human wizard 3/cleric 2 (Mieliki),

  • a female human fighter 1 /cleric 3 of Kelemvor from Baldur's Gate,

  • a male human sorcerer 2 /wizard 2 of Uthgardt ancestry,

  • a male human bard 4 of Silverymoon,

  • a male half-elven rogue 2 /sorcerer 1 /fighter 1 from Berdusk,

  • a male half-elven wizard 4 from Silverymoon,

  • a male human fighter 4 from Berdusk,

  • a male sun elf monk 2 from Evermeet,

  • a shield dwarf fighter 1 /cleric 1 (Moradin) from Iltkazar,

  • and a male sprite sorcerer 1

Please contact the Dungeon Master for more information.

Yes, but an unusually serious Pixie - as far as serious Pixies go...

Well... let's say not yet. I changed the topic header slightly. There might be another opportunity. This time the sun-elf monk (original from Evermeet) mentioned in the listing above, who has been in a part NPC / part PC mode for some time now.

There's a little discussion of such here http://www.candlekeep.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=6843 a little further down the page.

Chyron asked me to write a guide to the PBeM campaign, and so I have done so. It should be up at Candlekeep shortly

Some further notes, description on the Sun Elf character mentioned above. Not all of the background and mannerisms of the character are set in stone, there is room for customization.

Druth Symbaern
Male sun elf monk 2 (Labelas Enoreth)
LG Medium humanoid
Str 10, Dex 14, Con 10, Int 16, Wis 16, Cha 12
AC 15 (dexterity +2, wisdom +3)
Feats: Education, Improved Unarmed Strike

Druth was born on Evermeet in the Symbaern family, a small but powerful noble house of sun elves, who can trace their origins to fabled Myth Drannor (it’s one of the refugee Houses). As most members of this House, who is renowned for its bladesingers, he attended fencing classes, and learned the way of the sword. He proved an adequate student, but not an exceptional one. He had many other interests, primary Elven History, and spent many hours through the libraries and speaking to the wisest and most knowledgeable of his people, trying to learn about everything. He is the youngest of two brothers and one sister: his brother is a Bladesinger and spends most of his time adventuring all over Faerun, returning to Evermeet only rarely and staying for short periods. His sister shares her time between Evermeet and Evereska. His parents have long joined Arvandor.

One of his passions is metaphysics and philosophy, especially the intricacies of time and logic. Although he respects all of the Seldarine, he has a deep identification with the teachings of Labelas Enoreth, and in his youth could be seen in his temples. He does not understand worshipping for it’s sake, however: he simply cannot understand the behavior of some people (especially humans), who blindly worship a deity and follow the orders of organized churches. He is not opposed to these organizations, he simply resents the fact that too often they represent the desires of mortal people instead of the teachings of the gods.
After spending much of his adolescence in Evermeet, he left it for the continent. Everybody assumed that the wonderful stories of her sister and the mighty deeds of his brother had finally prompted him to leave the paradise island and travel the world, but they could not be further from the truth: in his researches, he got word of an elf sage who lived near Sylverymoon, and who had much lore about almost everything he wished to learn. After many weeks of searching, he finally found the master (1), and after several tests, he became his apprentice. His master was indeed versed in many subjects, and insisted that Druth perfected his body as well as his mind. Well, the mind part was rather easy, seeing that he was very gifted and interested. The body part was much harder, but he surmounted it nonetheless (4). He learned much about the way of nature, magic and history; he also learned various manual crafts. He perfected his skills with the staff and the bow, and even learned how to create wonderful tattoos that impart magical powers upon their bearers.

Druth left his Master some time ago, for he still has much to see, and as his master himself would say, no one has all the answers, and there are many you will need to discover by yourself.

(1) The 'master's' name has not yet been determined.

Druth doesn’t look exceptional at first glance: a normal elf, wearing good but common clothes. Carrying a light armament (staff, bow and dagger) and no armor, he doesn’t look like a threat to anyone. He likes to keep himself very clean, and will bathe frequently.

Druth doesn’t see himself as a “monk”, especially since he never attended a monastery. He also feels like he is a cleric from Labelas Enoreth, he just doesn’t have the powers (spells) right now… However, he won’t try to “convert” people to his faith, or even speak of the great deeds of his god. He would much prefer to discuss the intricacies of time, and share general knowledge (about almost any subject), trying to learn and teach. That is, in his mind, the best way to “serve” Labelas. He will be a fierce protector of the elven ways, though, and that’s one of the things that can make him take action.

He believes with all of his heart in the power of the words, and is very peaceful (not pacifist). He would much prefer to talk his way out of trouble than to fight it. He understands, however, that not everyone else is like him, and he does not fear to use brute strength when he has to.

Although trained in its use, he doesn’t carry a sword. He likes to have light equipment, and prefers weapons that can have some utility outside of combat. Thus, his usual assortment of weapons is a staff, which can be a general purpose tool (and his deity’s preferred weapon), a dagger (again, more a tool than a weapon) and his trusted bow, which he tries to practice daily (and is very handy to get dinner).

During his stay in Berdusk, Druth has deleved into the intrigueing history of the Talfir, a human culture which is no longer in existence today as a separate one, but elements of which still surface occasionally in Tethyrian folk.
