I'm somewhat at a dead-end <pun intended> on ideas for a relic of the church of Kelemvor, and looking for my fellow sages to propose some ideas.

Since Kelemvor is around only recently, the relic could date back to the days of Myrkul, or Jergal before that. Since it is a relic to the Kelemvorites today, the item should fit in with the current portfolio holder's dogmas.

From a story-line purpose: the relic would currently be in the Underdark beneath the Lands of Intrigue (probably beneath Amn), is possibly held by undead. An aspiring Doomguide of Kelemvor will recieve a vision of the item and go on a quest to retreive it.

In my campaign the PCs ran across a dagger that immediately sent a soul to Kelemvor's Judgement if it struck them. Someone killed with it couldn't even be raised because the person was directly put into the care of the Lord of the Dead. Even if Kelemvor assigned them to the patron deity, they would forever "judged" and unable to return alive to Toril.

The dagger itself dated back to Jergal. What particular purpose Kelemvor might have to the dagger is unknown, although an undead struck by the dagger would have its soul sent back to Kelemvor as well as a living person would. It was at the very least a relic that didn't have to do with undeath that Kelemvor's faith might be concerned with keeping tabs on.

Whenever the dagger is used, it travels with the slain to Kelemvor's palace in the Fugue Plain, so if its used, you aren't going to use it again unless Kelemvor sends it out again. In my campaign, it was never used by anyone during Kelemvor's time, until the PCs used it (on a Shadovar diplomat, but that's another story), but Myrkul and apparently Jergal had reason to send the dagger out into the world of the living whenever it came back to them.

Interesting dagger... <DM creative gears starting on seeds of ideas> Since the PC in question still has to attain the Doomguide PrC (Curst is hunting the group across the Greenfields )
I have some time and see if more ideas are being brought forth. The item described above certainly does fit to a large extent the type of relic I am looking for.

I think Eric Boyd's "Eye of Myrkul" Dungeon module featured (and mentioned) some relics of Myrkul. You could also always ask Eric about this?

For my next campaign Im using an Artifact Ive dubbed Jergals razor basicly its a modified version of Blackrazor with the following differences

Its a Dagger instead of a Great Sword

Its alignment is NE instead of CN.

If the dagger has not been used to kill some one in a 365 days Jergals Razor will attempt to slay any one who has handled the weapon which includes not only people who have wielded but those who have touched it. Treat the attack as a Slay Living spell with a DC Fortitude save of 19. This abilty does not apply to wielders who are either Clerics or Followers of the Jergal, Mykrul or Bhaal or anyone who carries the has the blood of one of those deities in their veins.

This power replaces Blackrazors ego growing every 3 days when its not fed ability.

FR History: Jergals Razor was orginally given by Jergal to a powerful Netherese Assasin 4000 years ago. The Dagger changed hands many time during the Age of Netheril but has not reappeared since Netherils fall, until 19 years ago when it was unknowingly recovered by an adventuring party known as "Her Majestys Reconnaissance Team". Since its recovery tt had been in the possession of Cadogan a thief living in Daggerford until he gave it away along with all his possessions 2 years ago.
