Active Server Pages error 'ASP 0113'

Script timed out

/forum/default.asp

The maximum amount of time for a script to execute was exceeded. You can change this limit by specifying a new value for the property Server.ScriptTimeout or by changing the value in the IIS administration tools.

Ive been getting it intermitently for the last 4-6 hours

Well met

Apologies for the inconvenience, folks. Unfortunately, there's nothing I can do. Candlekeep is run on a shared webserver with limited database resources and until I can afford a dedicated server (likely never), i'm afraid there may be some intermittent problems such as this.

Again, I can only apologise.

I got this error many times today... For about 30 minutes, I could get to the site, because of it.

I got this error between about 17.30-17.45 today I also got it the other day (tuesday? about lunch time) I thought someone had let the gremlins in.

Once upon a midnight dreary, while i pondered, weak and weary,
Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore-
While i nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door.

Ditto but the Imps were back again. We've been haveing trouble with them lately and we just can't seem to banish them. :)

For some of us, books are as important as almost anything else on earth. What a miracle it is that out of these small, flat, rigid squares of paper unfolds world after world, worlds that sing to you, comfort and quiet and excite you... Books are full of the things that you don't get in real life - wonderful, lyrical language, for instance, right off the bat. - Anne Lamott, Bird by Bird

I've also noticed the forum loading quite slowly. I know that this isn't my connection (i've cleared my history & cookies and try other sites). Sounds like this problems cause more by the masses of Realms addicts viewing the site rather than various Abyssal/Infernal creatures... (Not that theres much different ;-))

Well met

Apologies for the problems. I haven't encountered the error over the past week myself but will keep an eye out. As i've said before, there's nothing I can really do at the moment due to the server load and resources to the database engine.

Regarding loading speed... i'd actually thought only yesterday how strangely fast it had become lately

No need to Apologise Alaundo, your already doing us a massive favour by running the site (thanks again). Now as for the running speed I'll probally put that down to the dreaded NTL Demon, that or the fact I'm half a world away... in Scotland!

Thank ye for being understanding, Elrond. Oh thou art nearer to Candlekeep than a lot of scribes herein 'tis only a short drive away.

Actually, there's some good that's come from this... as it's given me a full error profile to work with for those new ASP scripts I'm (slowly) working on.

I'll talk this over with Big Al and see if we can get a test run on one of them in the Forum proper. I'd be curious to see how they go now...

Well

I've received this error a couple of times today and logged a support ticket with the web host this morn. Thus far, I have yet to receive an adequate response, but it is under investigation.

Web hosts tend to be quite evasive when it is suggested that their servers are lacking ample resource, but i'll keep at 'em
