Elminster Enraged now has a description and it comes out Sept 4th!
|
I hope Candlekeep continues to be the friendly forum of fellow Realms-lovers that it has always been, as we all go through this together. If you don’t want to move to the “new” Realms, that doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with either you or the “old” Realms. Goodness knows Candlekeep, and the hearts of its scribes, are both big enough to accommodate both. If we want them to be. (Strikes dramatic pose, raises sword to gleam in the sunset, and hopes breeches won’t fall down.) Enough for now. The Realms lives! I have spoken! Ale and light wines half price, served by a smiling Storm Silverhand fetchingly clad in thigh-high boots and naught else! Ahem . . So saith Ed. <snip> love to all, THO

It doesn't sound that interesting to me. Though it's still too early to make a decision whether to buy it or not...
Anyway, why is there no description yet for Charon's Claw? I'd like to know how involved will Thay and Shade be in that book. |

Well, that's probably because of your feelings about Manshoon. If that Amazon description replaced Manshoon with Telamont, you'd probably be a little more interested. BB |

Not only Manshoon. Cormyr, his ash state, and now, Underdark...Sigh. I want something new. Or at least feature Larloch instead of some irksome characters.
And to my query, Charon's Claw is scheduled to be released before Elminster Enraged[/i], yet it still does not have a description while the latter already has. |

That's probably because R.A. Salvatore hasn't written (or at least finished) it yet, but Ed has turned EE in and it's been edited into final form. I never place much faith in the WotC Amazon descriptions, anyway. They're obviously trying not to give too much away. Heck, Larloch could be the main villain in EE, for all we know. Though I strongly doubt it. I think Ed's still saving him for something big. As for "something new" - - well, Ed gives us that, book after book, more than any other Realms author. I happen to like Ed's Realms writing style, but I have a gaming friend who does not, and still buys every last Ed book, because "you can't really understand, enjoy the full depth of, and keep up with, the Realms if you don't." An opinion I agree with fully. I'll bet you very little of the book will be set in the Underdark. I think Ed is spotlighting Cormyr all the way in this trilogy. (Funny how scribes complain about Cormyr being overused, and never complain about the Underdark being overused...) BB |

I like Ed's older books. The new ones look recycled. How many times must Elminster lose his Art, turn into an old fool, and return to 'normal'? And how many novels must be set in Cormyr before they say its' enough? Sigh. And sigh again.
Done with my short rant.
Now picking up The Masked Witches...and continue where I left off... |

I am of a similar mindset. I really enjoyed the first Elminster book but steadily lost interest after that. I want to see a powerful magic user be able to use their magic. |

I also seem to prefer Elminster written by others. Troy Dennings Return of the Archwizards series comes to mind. |

Nice! Couldn't find it for preorder on amazon yet. However I do not know, if this is due to not being listed yet or if (once again) this eBook will be downloadable only in the US... |

If if's not written by Ed, Elminster would hardly don a major role. He bowed out in RotA... |

I don't like the cover art, either. But the blurb sounds interesting enough. I might buy it. |

I can't wait for the new Jack Ravenwild book, but I can't beleive it is ebook only. I purchased the ebook of shadowbane and some aspects of having the ebook is cool, but I prefer a paperback. Plus I can't/won't read my ipad in the bath or on a beach. |

I'm very much looking forward to Lisa Smedman's upcoming novel, I really like all of her works.
The only problem... the dwarves are suffering from a Stoneplague? *sigh* Spellplague, Abyssal Plague, now a Stoneplague. It's like the design team has plagues on the brain. But I hope it's good regardless.

That is awesome if RA Salvatore is releasing books that quickly again! Can't wait for Charon's Claw and Prophet of the Dead. |

Looking at B&N.com it looks like there's a lot of new stuff coming out that's ebook only. That makes me sad. I want to hold that book in my hand and put it on my shelf when I'm done. I like books, real books. I'm not buying a nook or a kindle just to read FR.
It's particularly upsetting that it's this Richard Baker book is part of it. I was willing to pay full price for a hardcover just to have it. Now it seems I'm going to miss out.
I hope FR isn't moving this way with all their future stuff. |

Godborn's release date is barely 2 months away. But there's no blurb/description yet. And 304 pages only? Even for a trade paperback, isn't that rather short? |

Nope, short is 250 or 275. His Star Wars book ranged from 304 to 320 pages. |

Well the push back to fall 2013 is a blow......but Paul did say it was now a rather large book. Larger than it was going to be. So...I'll wait. But I still want it now |
