The Dragon Compendium Volume One has three new (old) dragons in it:

The Orange Dragon (Forests)
The Purple Dragon (Plains)
The Yellow Dragon (Coasts and Swamps)

So what's the problem?

Orange Dragons are pretty easy to fit in, but I am hesitant to try and use Purple Dragons, since they might confuse people as to, say, THE purple dragon of Cormyr, which was actually a black dragon. Still, I guess that's not too big a deal, but the problem with yellow dragons is this . . . there were already yellow dragons introduced into the Realms back in the 2nd Edition Draconomicon, but they were desert dragons.

Personally I think that between Blue dragons and Brown dragons, deserts are covered just fine, but I was concerned that their might be references to yellow dragons in canon that I didn't catch, that would contradict an aquatic yellow dragon.

And while I'm talking about dragons from Dragon Magazine, did anyone see the Hex Dragons and Tome Dragons from the last issue of Dragon, and how do you think these would fit into the Realms?

Yellow dragons are detailed and written up in the 2E product FOR1 Draconomicon by Nigel Findley (pgs.71-72).

It's always been one of my big disappointments as a sci-fi/fantasy designer and writer that I never got to work Nigel (or even meet him at a convention). He was one of the most accomplished and impressive people at such a young age, I can only imagine what he'd be doing if he were still alive today
