I just finished the novel Cormyr and do not want to read the two next novels for i want to jump into the swords and songs (harper) books so if anybody would like to indulge me with the answers to a few of my questions:
How did Azoun and Tanalasta die?
Did Alusair mary?
Was Alusair reluctant to become queen?
Was there any other heirs produced?
Where is Azoun's wife?
Is Vangy still in charge of number one wizard?
Was there any threats from the royals to try themselves to achieve the crown?
Who is Caladnei?
Has Cormyr been severly weakened by the death of their king?
What level is Vangy and Alusair and Caladnei?
and just for the fun of it, Are Vangy and Elminster friends?

Please respond to my questions oh wise ones, tempus thanks you!

This will probably not be the answer you seek, but I strongly urge you to finish the Cormyr trilogy PLUS 'Elminster's Daughter' BEFORE you switch to another book series.

I you absolutely cannot read all four books, read 'Elminster's Daughter' before switching to other book series, as this book will answer most of the questions you have.

It would be both a disservice to your own enjoyment of the Realms and to the authors of these books to just give you these answers. Patience is key lad!

As well, after the Cormyr trilogy read "After the Dragon" (Dragon Annual #5) and "The Long Road Home" (The Best of the Realms, Book II: The Stories of Ed Greenwood).

You will understand things much better than from our second-hand attempts to answer questions (Has Cormyr been severely weakened? Are Vangy and Elminster friends?) whose answers are complex and involved.

I gather from the question about the levels that you don't have the Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting. That also has information about Caladnei, though Elminster's Daughter fills in much more.

I'd also recommend you read through Ed's Cormyr replies here at Candlekeep. He's discussed several of these types of questions in his comments he's posted about the Forest Kingdom.

Please forgive me for answering this eager one questions. Afterall, he deserves something for the nice artwork he did.

All right as to your questions:
1) Azoun died fighting the Devil Dragon and both bought the farm(means bought their graves) together. Tanalasta supposedly died of grievious wounds from fighting the ghazneths but not without giving birth to Azoun V.

2) Alusair never married but she had plenty of consorts.

3) Alusair was rather reluctant to play around with politics and rather eager to go adventuring. She is not yet queen and neither desires to become one. Currently, she serves as the Steel Regent Of Cormyr(sort of a steward for the King)until Azoun V grows up and understand his roles.

4) Yup, Ex-Royal Magician Vangerdahast, War Wizard Laspeera and late Azoun IV know where the other offsprings of the late Azoun IV are.

5) Azoun IV wife Queen Filfaeril still lives as Dowager Queen of Cormyr but seldom smiling since Azoun IV bought the farm. Azoun IV mistress Tessaril Winter(Lady Lord of EveningStar) still lives as well.

6) Vangerdahast formerly led the Council of Mages or War Wizards simply but he resigned from his post since Azoun IV bought the farm. But He is the best and strongest wizard of Cormyr ever seen, the best wizard among the War Wizards. He is now tinkering with his own plans supposedly to benefit Cormyr.

7) Many, think of the Cormaerils and other nobles, any noble of the wrong mind would had tried to sieze the throne in light of the King Azoun IV death.

8) Caladnei, half-cormyrean half-Turmish, is the next Royal Magician of Cormyr and the reluctant successor of Vangerdahast. Honestly speaking, she isn't as powerful and capable as Vangerdahast yet and she is still learning her trade and might be many years before she achieves Vangerdahast's level of mastery. Not all War Wizards show respect for Caladnei compared to old Vangey.

9) Morale of the citizenry is low, yet they will remember the King's sacrifice for the kingdom for many years, not forever. Besides that, Cormyr lost a lot of veteran, loyal good and best soldiers, officers, wizards in the war. The military of Cormyr is a shadow of its own glory right now.

10) For Vangey, Wiz 15/Acm 3, Caladnei Sor11/fighter4. For Alusair, fighter 7/ranger1/prp2.

11) Vangey was Elminister's former apprentice yet both can be called "friends" with each other though they are not that so good friends.

We have fostered trust, recruited loyalty, and gathered the faithful. We have trained thousands. Our legions can cover the land, fill the sky and travel through the darkness. We can hunt any and all that would deny our heritage. Now is our time, now is the time of the Dark Reign(Rain) of the Empire of Shadows.
