So loregems are neat!
so far ive jeard of these types:
Kiira (MoF)
Telkiira (LEoF)
Selukiira (?)
Kiira N'Vaelahr (PGtF)
I forget, which tome describes the Selukiira (artifacts)
Can anyone tell me?
can anyone describe like how elves treat people they see wearing one? if i had a powerful wizard character witha Telkiira on his forehead what would be the reaction if he was walking down the streets in Evermeet. etc.
also since there is a kiira nvaelahr was there a kiira for the mage faction of myth drannors army?
are there any specific siluvanedenn kiira or sun elf themed ones (feel free to come up with one!!!)

Cormanthyr Empire of the Elves and The Fall of Myth Drannor have info on the Sel-kiira. I don't think they have been converted to 3/3.5e but I might be wrong.
Elminster in Myth Drannor has some good scenes on how elves react to non-elves wearing those items. :) |

Elves *really* don't like humans or other races wearing tel'kiira, as they're essentially the souls of their ancestors, and they tend to belong to the oldest of noble families. Kuje is right, Elminster in Myth Drannor gives a good view of what happens when a human wears one. Note, however, that most do not have any racial restrictions, so it is possible for pretty much anyone to wear them.
Not so with selu'kiira. They blow the heads off the unworthy, or dominate them to take the kiira back to the High Mages.
The only one you'd be realtively safe with would be a kiira N'Vaelahr, since virtually no one knows they exist, and the N'Vaelahr recruited beyond elves during their short existence.
Oh, and wearing a kiira opening is considered the height of arrogance. |
Doggedly converting 3e back to what D&D should be...

i have been really bad about reading Elaine's work, even though i liked daughter of the drow alot and that 1st magehound book. is there any other info on them (as in are they in any source 2e or 3.5 etc. or just her creation)

You're more apt to get answers out of me then, as well. WotC gets rather annoyed when authors talk about the novels too much before they're released and give away the plots et al. And while I've teased a lot, I don't think I've mentioned word one about the plot or what to expect beyond things connected to the title character....

That's certainly understandable... but WotC should also appreciate that fact that your return to FR fiction is something that has been highly anticipated by long time FR fans for, well... a very long time. As such, we're all bound to get very excited about seeing more of your work published in support of the Realms -- and pre-release Blackstaff plot questions are likely to pop up .

That's why I've not been doing anything in the Book Club. Thus far, only once have I been reading a novel at the same time as everyone else.

Hello-
THis is horribly off-topic - but it has been advanced by some of the main "Movers & Shakers" - and I feel tha this is somewhat important to note.
I work in one of the large Bookstores. (Boo-Hiss - or Yee-haa as you will!)
What I would like to impart is - unfortunately - the FR books are generally not ordered in high quantities. They are not seen as big sellers (and they are not compared to other works, generally) nor are they seen as long-term sellers.
IN my store - most sales of FR paperbacks (excepting possibly Mr. Salvatore) occur withing the first 3-4 weeks of the release of the book.
Because of this relatively short time-frame, and the lower sales volume, it can take longer to re-supply these than books that are a huge success.
What I would suggest is a couple of things.
1) Try talking to your respective/chosen bookseller. Most will be able to tell how many are coming before they actually arrive. They may not be willing/able to tell you how many that is - BUT - if you try reserving one ahead of time - it helps them. I have actually contacted the home office on several occasions to get them to increase the initial allotment of some things that were (to me) obviously ordered at too low of a level. That way (by reserving it) you have a better chance to get one of the first copies that arrives - as opposed to having to wait for a re-supply.
2) I am also aware that some bookstores even offer the ability to reserve in-store books and/or place orders online for in-store pickup. This could be convenient if the store is a distance away from you.
3) See if you can determine in there are any staff at the store who themselves are FR fans. That would be a Great way to get some attention! Again - this would help with adjusting initial order levels. (ahead of time)
