Hi all. Well, this topic sort of mutated around in Steven Schend's thread until Alaundo kicked us out, and I thought it was too interesting to let it lie.

There appears to be some confusion (or open-endedness) about the Coweled Wizards of Amn, and what their relation is to, well, everyone else. At the same time, there's confusion about the general feeling of the populace towards wizards (how much they hate and fear them). I thought I'd open it up to everyone for thoughts. How have you dealt with it? (Oh, and let's leave the Coweled Wizards that appeared in Baldur's Gate II out of this completely, since they bear absolutely no resemblance to the canon CW).

One extent that they can be taken (though it's more paranoid than canon supports) is the way my group handled it: essentially turning them into a Faerunian version of Athas's Veiled Alliance. The group was half wizards, and everyone was a Harper. We cranked the paranoia to the max.

Doggedly converting 3e back to what D&D should be...
Sigh... And now 4e as well.
