I was kind of wondering who had won Crypt of the Shadowking...as I was one who put my name in the hat. I hope all is well with the wonderful darkcrow.

Hello-

Welcome back! I dare say - I doubt Anyone would have any great degree of problem with your having been gone. Worry, perhaps - but nobody is upset I would assume.

Just remember - yu are giving stuff away for free - that alone gives you many points towards being allowed to disappear if needed!

Thanks again for doing this - and Congrats to the newest winner - Sadonayerah Odrydin!!

Let me just say that what you are doing is very rare and generous. As an aspiring collector, I will definately be adding my name to the drawing. I have a question for you though. In your very first post in this topic you said that you had 15 books to give away and I was wondering how many you have left? I am too busy, actually lazy, to go through all the posts and count. Thanks.

Dhomal: Thanks!

darkcrow: Thanks so much! And I admit I was getting kind of worried. ^_^ No worries man, and I agree with Dhomal, I'm sure no one is upset. We're all just glad to hear that you're okay.

I have pmed you the info. ^_^ Thanks again!!!

"What's that," asked Mogget.
"Sardines," said Sam. "I knew they were standard rations, so I got a few tins for you."
"What are sardines?" Moggest asked suspiciously. "And why is there a key? Is this some sort of Abhorsen joke?"

I'll bid for it.

Good to have you back, darkcrow! 'Tis a relief to see that what befell you was mere misfortune, rather than the catastrophe I was beginning to imagine. (Get thee behind me, Beshaba! )
Many here, myself included, owe you many thanks for all you've done/are doing/will do.

D&D collection: Player's Handbook, Dungeon Master's Guide, Monster Manual I, Complete Arcane, Arms & Equipment Guide.

FR sourcebook collection: Dragons of Faerūn, Faiths & Pantheons, FRCS, Lords of Darkness, Monsters of Faerūn, Player's Guide to Faerūn, Power of Faerūn, Races of Faerūn, Silver Marches.

I just got back into this, okay? Give me time (or better yet money) - I'll catch up soon enough.

In the wonderful DARKCROW'S tradition, I am auctioning off my own set of duplicates and other books that I have already read and would like to give back to the world. The auction was already underway over at Worlds of D&D, but I wanted to alert everyone ehre as well, in case there isn't as much crossover as I thought there would be:

Here is my original post:

"Over at the candlekeep forum, a most generous poster by the nom de guerre of "darkcrow" began a *contest* of sorts, where she would accept emails from other posters and enter their names in a novel giveaway, in which she would send the winner, free of charge, books that she had either finished and wanted to give out to someone in the community who had not read it yet, or had been given extras to hand out (again, free of charge and to whomever hadn't read it and might want to give it a shot).

Inspired by this, because I was actually a winner of one of those novels, I am open to the idea of doing so here for the WoD&D board members.

I have 11 novels so far to send out interested individuals. All are in the Forgotten Realms line and all are in good to excellent condition.

If the moderators agree to let me do this (free of charge, of course) and there is enough support from the readership, I shall do so. Once I am told all is good, I will post the first book in this contest.

The rules will be as follows. I will post each book on a Friday and will announce the winner of each novel the next Tuesday. If all goes according to plan, this will allow for anyone who has NOT read the Erevis Cale Trilogy (three of the books I will put up for the contest) to get them before the November 7 release date of Shadowbred, Paul Kemp's continuation of the story. (The Erevis Cale Trilogy will be the last three to be sent out just before Shadowbred's release.)

So, once I get the go ahead, I'll let everyone know what the first book will be (so far, there are three complete trilogies and books one and three of another trilogy that happen to be extra copies). There MIGHT be more later, as I slowly downsize my library.

Joe

P.S. I will be on vacation the week of September 1 through September 8. There will be a delay in shipping that week, but the contest shall continue and, rest assured, the winner will receive their novel.

P.P.S. Thanks to the fabulous Marsheila Rockwell, Young Dragon extraordinaire, I have just received another boxload of books to distribute. The previous novel was the trade paperback of SPELLFIRE, by Ed Greenwood. This week's novel is the trade paperbook of HANDS OF FIRE, book three in Shandril's Saga. The winner and the enxt book will be announced this coming Friday.

Please send me a message with your name and mailing address and I will include you in the upcoming drawing for HAND OF FIRE.

Thanks and best of luck to all who enter!

Joe

I cannot speak for darkcrow....this is separate and independent of anything else that is happening. If darkcrow's giveaway continues, it can be done here as always and I'll try to stay out of the way or coordinate to make it as easy as possible for all involved.
