My PCs ran into a pair of Black Blood Malarites during out last adventure. I had a Black Blood Hunter that ran from a group hunting Malarites in the Moonwood, and the fugitive managed to aquire a Black Blood cultist as a worshipper. The worshipper, when I was done with him, did end up being CR 11, and the Black Blood Hunter is CR 10.

Two of the PCs are 9th level (Cleric and Barbarian), and the other is 8th level (Druid 4/Rogue 4). They had a much harder time with the Black Blood Cultist than they did with the Black Blood hunter. Neither encounter was a cakewalk, and the cleric did manage to get in a flamestrike on the Black Blood hunter in the first round of that fight, but I found it an interesting comparison.

The barbarian was grappled and taken down pretty significantly by the cultist and his improved grappling with the claws and the biting and all. Even presenting the rogue with a flat footed target still left the cleric in "heal" mode for the whole fight until the barbarian finally broke loose of the grapple.

The hunter on the other hand, managed to do a good amount of damage across the board to everyone, but it was spread out among them, and while the cleric went back into his healing mode, the fact that he got off his offensive manuver early on set the tone for the fight.

My thought is, has anyone else had similar experiences from these PrCs. Ironically, the non-lycanthrope black blood cultist just felt a bit more deadly between the two.
