Hello all,
I want to build a storyline involving banites on Mintarn, a pirate haven, powerful magic swords and hopefully some kobolds.
The characters, a vile gang of would-be pirates and magic item merchants, have a map where x marks the spot to the lair of an evil wizard who tried to restore the Dead Three after the Time of Troubles.
Any ideas? Any resources I should check out? I got myself into a mess storywise by confusing Mintarn and Mintar, and need to sort this out as soon as possible
Thank you!

Wel not sure how big the island is, another might provide that. The island certainly can have two power centers the banite and the pirate haven. Powerful swords can be in posseion of either of these power centers or even another, there again it might be a false rummor. Not everything a DM has an NPC say is true is in fact true. The reality of the statements made might be that a banite built a temple 1,000 years ago on the island, that the prirates horad is one small fishing vesele that at times finds it better to rob then fish, that the powerful swords in fact consits of a +1 sword that emits light that fell into the sea 50 years ago. The map also might not be acurate.
Your one big saving throw and you can roll a 20 on it is source of information, the NPC confused Mintarn with Mintar (Of cousre this becomes a harder sell if a PC did a skill check on knowledge and appeared to sucede with correct knowledge/answer).
There are a few ways to save this depending on what points you are at and what you as DM have said as fact, as oposed to what NPCs have said. |
"Small beings can have small wisdom," the dragon said. "And small wise beings are better than small fools. Listen: Wisdom is caring for afterwards." "Caring for afterwards ...? Ker repeated this without understanding. "After action, afterwards," the dragon said. "Choose the afterwards first, then the action. Fools choose action first." Thanks both of you.
I seem to recall that one of the stories in Best of Eddie offered some insight on the situation on Mintarn. If I can figure out the looks and size of the settlement, I'm more or less good to go.
Sadly the Volo Guides gave much less info than I hoped. Actually, the Old Grey Box is the best resource I've found so far. According to this resource, the "tyrant" may not be a Banite as all.
This really is an obscure part of the realms. |
