I'm currently reading Elminster: The Making of a Mage.
For those of you who have read it, I'm a bit confused (the book explaned it, but I guess i need to hear it differently). Mystra turned Elminster into a woman. Why? It said why, but I just.... don't get it. Help .

| I believe Mystra turned Elminster into a woman so that he could learn humility. That and she was hidding El from the Magelords. I don't remember the exact wording from the book but I'm pretty sure it has to do with humbling Elminster. |

| That was not the only reason. Women are more intuned to nature than guys. Elmenster was turned into a female to help him grasp magic more fully so he had a really strong grasp when he bacame a guy again. |

But that just begs an additional question. How much of the way that Elminster (and males in general, by extention) thought was because he was male, and how much was because he was brought up as a male? Would a sex-change be that much of a learning experience, as far as magic (or other unisex subjects) is concerned?
