Two of the characters in the Silver Marches campaign brought up the following:

It says this in the Silver Marches book: And no creature who kindles fire in the High Forest goes unattacked for long. Druids say Eldath and Mielikki personally bring doom to such desecrators.

So, are the Tree Ghost barbarians, who live in the forest exempt of this, or what?

DM's ruling... for now.

Well, having to do completely without fire would be arduous at best, lighting a fire is permitted, provided the correct precautions have been made. Typically the barbarians use glowing coals to either quickly kindle a prepared fire or to use as is for warmth or cooking.

Any other sages or DM's willing to shine their light over this topic?

Im not familiar with the Tree Ghost barbarians, but id see this as a flaw in the product, otherwise the barbarians would be wiped out the instant they struck their second flint

And not only the barbarians, I could imagine the wood and wild elves living under and in the canopy of the High Forest as well...

Come to think of it, I believe that in the first or second book of the 'Return of the Archwizards' series there is a scene where the elves are revelling around a fire, with Elminster and Turlang in attendance... hmmm!!

I think that you are attacked when you set fire to the forest. But if you travel with a torch, or if you make a campfire it'll be ok

---as long as you only use fallen branches and dead wood.

Keep your axes and hatchets to yourselves...
