Some of them are in the Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting (Elminster, Simbul, Drizzt for example). |

In that case you need to get hold of the 2nd edition Heroes Lorebook and convert the stats in there. I don't suppose WotC have even considered producing the 3rd edition version yet. |

Dragon Magazine has some of the more recent heroes and villains in 3e format in their Rogue's Gallery (wish they'd publish that more often).
Also in the FRCS and other 3e Realms publications are some famous and infamous characters. They're not collected in one convenient place, maybe for one of the scribes of Candlekeep to create a listing? |

Well Met
Thanks Mumadar ::steps out from piles upon piles of scrolls and tomes entitled "To Do Lists"::
It is actually an intended project of ours to list all characters ever mentioned in any Realms publication. There is already a document available on the web which lists many of these already but I believe its quite out of date and difficult to navigate. We were considering opening this project up to the site to encourage visitors to aid us in collating a complete list to be available on the site. However this would be in a similar vein to the official FR Encyclopedia project which was started by TSR some years ago (http://www.candlekeep.com/bookshelf/misc/fr_enc.htm) whereas a novel or product is assigned to one particular person to note down each character and any details mentioned.
Although this would be initially very time consuming due to the vast catalog of FR products, once it is up to date then it would be much easier to maintain when new novels and products are released......and would be a very rewarding, impressive and useful piece of Realmslore.
Anyone have any views on this? |

Interesting project. Real-life will probably demand too much time from me in the short future (2-3 months), but after that. I might offer my assistance as Scribe of Candlekeep.
Keep us updated if anyone else takes up the flame and continues the project. That way I'll know who to contact at the moment I can devote a part of my Realms time to it as well. |
