Hi all. I'm putting the finishing touches on my paper examining the Candlekeep site and the community that surrounds it, and I'm trying to find the perfect quote to start it off.

Since the paper's about the home of Alaundo (both of them), I thought it would be fitting to start with a quote from the old prophet. The problem is, I don't have time to search through my books for Alaundo quotes.

So I thought I would turn to all of you for help. I have the Alaundo quote from the front of the site, and the start of A Grand History of the Realms. Are there any others around that I missed?

And, just so we don't get any more confused than I already am (reading academic papers for eight hours will do that to you), we're talking about the Alaundo in the Realms, not our very own Bearded Moderator...

Doggedly converting 3e back to what D&D should be...
Sigh... And now 4e as well.

There isn't really a great deal of "official" material dealing with either Alaundo's prophecies or his quotes. Having said that, there are likely to be one or two fan-based sites that have attempted to do something like this -- mostly unofficial though. Try google.

Well met

Indeed, I believe the Sage is correct. I know not of any official quotations which exist in addition to that which ye have already stated The only scroll we have here at the library is this one, if it is of any use.

Good question for Ed, though; I know I've hinted and teased about Alaundo's prophecies over the years, but never actually wrote anything down.

Well, Alaundo did run around with the scepter of Savras for some time - maybe their might be some information if we look along that vein.

Hmm, good points all. Thanks. I think I'll wander over to Ed's scroll now...

Sure, no problem. It's the final paper for my Social Systems and Information class, a Masters level course. We needed to find a collection and analyze both it and the social system surrounding/supporting it. I chose Candlekeep, partly because I thought it would be an interesting take on the subject, and I'm here so often anyway. I got a bunch of help from Alaundo and various other users of the Forums (some of whom got quoted). Total length was just over 3,500 words (seven pages single spaced).

The Baldur's Gate story is based around a quote by Alaundo (about Bhaal sowing mortal progeny).

"Instead of asking why we sleep, it might make sense to ask why we wake. Perchance we live to dream. From that perspective, the sea of troubles we navigate in the workaday world might be the price we pay for admission to another night in the world of dreams."
