Most Learned Sages,
If I may inquire as to the source from which comes the story Of Khelben Arunsun and his forming the Tel Teukiira? Is it in a FR novel that this info can be read? Which novel? Why in the world would he supply Fzoul Chenbryl with the Scepter of the Sorcerer Kings? (sounds powerful). I just read a little of the story in the Waterdeep sourcebook. Can you fill in the blanks?

The last 2e sourcebook Cloak & Dagger has the complete details.
Additionally, searching through many of Steven Schend's comments here at Candlekeep (or in Kuje's files kept here at Candlekeep) will provide some extra insights into Khelben, the Moonstars, and the Schism itself.

Cloak & Dagger, the last 2e sourcebook has the whole tale. He gave the Scepter to Fzoul in agreement that Fzoul wouldn't expand the Zhents west for a certain amount of years. Do remember Khelben is LN and he does what he does for his own reasons that most people don't understand or know about. |
For some of us, books are as important as almost anything else on earth. What a miracle it is that out of these small, flat, rigid squares of paper unfolds world after world, worlds that sing to you, comfort and quiet and excite you... Books are full of the things that you don't get in real life - wonderful, lyrical language, for instance, right off the bat. - Anne Lamott, Bird by Bird

Was Cloak and Dagger the last 2e sourcebook? I didn't know that. I knew it was near the end, but not the last. It was a good one to go out on. Thankfully not as disaster-filled as System Failure (which just ended 3rd edition Shadowrun), but still with lots of good stuff. |
Doggedly converting 3e back to what D&D should be... Sigh... And now 4e as well. |

Indeed it was.
Most of the information printed within is still relatively up-to-date, and mostly all still applies to the Realms in the current game year of 1374 DR.

I don't think it would hurt to mention that Steven Schend is currently writing an novel about Khelben for the Wizards series (entitled Blackstaff). |
