Ah, one of my all-time favorite DL CRPGs... They don't make them like that anymore  .
::sigh::
Anyways, as to your question, when I used the scrolls in DQoK, they usually worked. Although I did find that it depended upon where you cast the spell as written on the scroll. I really can't be more specific than this, as it was almost ten years ago that I played through it completely.
