(When I talk about her children, I mean animals and elves. Maybe it's not right, but she's so magnificent, that for me, she's the goddess(mother) of whole nature. And by the way... If I would like to have an powerful artifact, it would be connected with Her)
Methinks the Seldarine would frown a little at the claim: elves are Mielikki's children... According to established legend (i.e. Faiths and Pantheons and the 2e predecessors and Evermeet), the elves are not native to the Forgotten Realms. They came through portals from other realms and have taken their own deities (the Seldarine) with them. Of course over time there have been elves that started worshipping 'human' gods, and vice versa, but these elves are still a minority.
The misconception about elves and Mielikki might also come from the fact that a certain famous drow elf has become a follower of Mielikki.
On a personal note, I believe people (including Realms Authors!) in general are quick to embrace human deities for demihuman characters. To me that is a diminishing of the uniqueness of the Realms. True there is a wealth of deities and powers in the Realms, maybe a little too much, but the uniqueness of the 'racial' pantheons is something I would like to see remain.

Tis true, tis true. But thanks to some proding *cough*, I've learned better. Perhaps it was because humans seem more versatile and accepting than some other races. I think it would be more interesting to see the half-breeds stick to their non-human diety, but then again, some of the half-breeds are considered outcasts among the 'pure' ones.
