I plan on going on Aug 19 and attending the Forgotten Realms seminar. The book and RPG R&D along with Ed are going to discuss the past, present and future of the setting. So is anyone else planning on attending? If not I can try to answer some of your questions if possible. Thanks

I´m echoing you, Khorne.
Worst than that, every year in our great Rpg convention here in Brazil, one good writer came to give us some insight in her work. Peter Adkinson, Peter Jackson, Rein Hagen, Margareth Weis and others already make the trip for here in the last years. This year, in which we see The Cristal Shard in brazilian portuguese (the first Realmish novel translated here), much of us stay (I included) waiting for a good day with Salvatore, but he don´t was invited...

I know she doesn't like my 'Elminster-styled' beard . It apparently itches her face whenever I try to kiss her on the cheek. I may have to consider shaving it all off...

Back to GenCon though... 'Tis strange but, in a conversation with the Bookwyrm last year (just before GenCon 2004), I stated that I would try my hardest to get over to the convention for 2005.

My, how things change... .

I thought Elaine said she couldn't make it this year......

For some of us, books are as important as almost anything else on earth. What a miracle it is that out of these small, flat, rigid squares of paper unfolds world after world, worlds that sing to you, comfort and quiet and excite you... Books are full of the things that you don't get in real life - wonderful, lyrical language, for instance, right off the bat. - Anne Lamott, Bird by Bird

Well met

My word, this years line-up sounds stunning! The Roasting will be a splendid event, and the Spider Queen author panel sounds very impressive. Oh how I wish I could be there

It would be greatly appreciated if any scribes from Candlekeep who are attending could return forthwith with reports on these events

Well met

Certainly, Dargoth If any scribes are taking photos or movies of GENCON and any of the seminars, or simply audio recordings, I would be VERY interested to see\hear these and will gladly make them available at Candlekeep.

Please contact me if ye intend reporting back here with such media and the moment it's sent in, i'll clear a shelf for it for everyone to see

Aye! I didn't think Elaine was going either. I live only TWO counties south (45Minutes, Hour away tops) from the place it's being held (Indianapolis, Indiana), and I decided not to go this year because Elaine wasn't goin to go...aiyaya

Well, I've got next year though...*sniff*

I'm pretty certain she's not. I think those descriptions were written up and submitted to Gen Con LLC before she made her decision to forgo the event.

I dunno. But it's still the thought...;)

And if I understand your sight correctly Mr. Reid, it looks like your site hasn't been updated since last July? Or do you have your date set up differently?

I have wanted to go for awhile and since I really don't attend Pensic anymore it is not a matter of conflict anymore.

I learned though that the conflict between Gencon and SCA Pensic was INTENTIONAL. Had to do with an argument between Arneson and The developers of Runequest so I hear. Weird.

Grr . . . my "friend" went to Gen Con, and dispite the fact that neither I, his Forgotten Realms DM, nor our friend, the Star Wars GM, could go (both of us getting married in the near future), he went anyway. Did he attent FR seminars and take note for me? No. Did he smuggle out the AT AT "miniature" for our friend? No. Did he get me a signed Elminster mini? No. Did he take the head of WOTC's Star Wars line hostage and not let him go until he promised to start putting out new Star Wars RPG material? NO.

Boy . . . friends these days. He spent his WHOLE time there playing in minis tournaments. Then again, he had to get some use out of his new minis, since he is still in the dog house from his wife for buying a case of minis right before making his pilgrimage to Indianapolis. Perhaps I should cut him some slack.

Bah . . . the people of the Black Blood still wanted his druid dead one way or another, whose to say that they might not be quite so stealthy had he just thought to snag some swag for his DM?

Just kidding. I'm glad he had a good time, and I really hope to go next year (though my future bride says that it will not cut is as our 2nd honeymoon, since it should be close to our first aniversary by then).
