Hello, everyone. I've been lurking on these forums for a year, and had an idle account because I stupidly forgot my username, but Alaundo graciously sent it to me via e-mail. Anyway, some of you MIGHT have come across my posts on the Wizards FR forum...there I'm known as Yokinobu.
I've known of this site for a few years at least, but was attracted to the forums because of the warm treatment and friendly familiarity that seems to pervade these forums much more strongly than the threads over at Wizards. And then there's the freedom of being able to mention the word "novel", plus of course having a section devoted to threads addressing questions for the most prominent realms authors/designers. Anyway, this place is great.

Hail and Welcome, Cam Beul. Do enjoy your time here. |
We have fostered trust, recruited loyalty, and gathered the faithful. We have trained thousands. Our legions can cover the land, fill the sky and travel through the darkness. We can hunt any and all that would deny our heritage. Now is our time, now is the time of the Dark Reign(Rain) of the Empire of Shadows. - High Prince Telemont Tanthul, Lord Shadow In a speech given to the citizens of Shade Enclave At the celebration of the Shinantra Battle victory when he revealed that he was THE Lord Shadow of legend. |

Well met, Cam Beul
Ahh, I see thee located the main doors to the library eventually Splendid.
Indeed, we encourage talk of novels herein, for I believe it is what shapes the Realms and is extrememly important to its continued development.
Enjoy thy stay.

Welcome to Candlekeep!
Feel free to ask any questions you may have... A lot of us have been Realms fans for years, and we know a thing or three about the setting. Plus, we've got some of the authors and creators here!
As for the rest of us, we are friendly, mostly harmless, and occasionally strange... Enjoy your stay!
I myself am a refugee from the WotC forums. I came here after being wrongfully banned there. This place is a lot better. |

Hello and welcome to Candlekeep! |
"What's that," asked Mogget. "Sardines," said Sam. "I knew they were standard rations, so I got a few tins for you." "What are sardines?" Moggest asked suspiciously. "And why is there a key? Is this some sort of Abhorsen joke?" Abhorsen by Garth Nix

Such a generous reception...I am unworthy!
A pleasure to meet you all formally, Shadovar, wise Alaundo, Wooly Rupert and Sadonayerah Odrydin.
So, Wooly, you were banned from WotC forums? How utterly dreadful! I cannot concieve of why, though I suppose I should not be so surprised. But in my time watching and waiting, you have shown to be kind and very reasonable. That is why this place may in time become my only refuge as well...the company here is of the utmost quality. |

I'm not sure why, either... Here's the latest recounting of the tale of my banning.

I thank you for the compliment. I do try to be a nice hamster. Every now and again someone gets on my nerves a bit, but it's never been as bad as that other place.
We do have a pretty good bunch here, for the most part. |

I read through your explaination, and failed to come up with my own opinionated conclusion. There no concievable excuse(in my eyes) for your being banned. I think I've posted more offensive things in the past, and I haven't been charged of an offense yet. I never really took to Big Sister like some of those who relentlessy(and pitifully) showered her with compliments on every thread in which she reached a new hearing on rule changes in the forums. I think it was the overly stern approach she had with some of her posts...it offended my chaotic, anti-authoritarian nature. Really, I think your avatar may have frightened the moderator(s). It scared me a little!
But yeah, this place seems mostly devoid of unreasonable, nigh-unintelligible posts, like, "dos anyon hav stats for mystra ogma an mrykul post thme plz". That really annoys me.
And not to long ago, over at Wizards, we had some fellow on the Eberron forum, in a thread comparing Eberron and the Realms, slandering FR by basically stating that Realms authors/designers never responded to queries from their fans(which is completely false). Since this forum is devoted to the Realms entirely, this is something one doesn't run into often.
I could list a hundred advantages of Candlekeep. Therefore, I plan on staying awhile. |
