The Ba'al Verzi. The most intrigueing group of assassins to ever capture my imagination. Do they have any presence in the Forgotten Realms? (Being from the Ravenloft setting?)
What novels or sourcebooks are they featured in?
What do you sages think about bringing them to the realms, and how would you go about it?
Many thanks from the Dark Bard Smyther.

No, the Ba'al Verzi do not have a presence in the Realms. They are strictly tied to the Realm of Dread, even moreso now in 3e than they were in 2e.

They've never been mentioned in an FR product either, simply because none of their number have ever left Ravenloft. Even when the Realm of Dread was created when the Dark Powers ensnared Barovia, some of the cabal's leadership where left behind on the original world unable to journey to where the rest of the Verzi now resided.

The most up-to-date details on this group of assassins can be found in the 3e Ravenloft Gazetteer Volume 1. They feature prominently in the RL novel I, Strahd, and they appear briefly in several RL Barovia-based game modules.

Well, I'll see if I can get my hands on those products. Are they still available, or do I have to go e-bay or Tramps?
But does anybody have any ideas on how these assassins could be integrated into Faerun? Perhaps the " Ba'al " Verzi have some connection to " Bhaal ", dead god of assassins?

In addition, is there any information on the gor-kethal, a group of magic-theives referenced in Realms of Magic - The Magic Thief, by Mark Anthony? Were they just made up by him, or do they have any material in Netheril sets?

The Gazetteer I is still a relatively recent tome, released within the last few years. I've seen it in a few gaming shops here and there so it should still be fairly easy to pick up. Many online stores still carry the printed versions, but most, like the White Wolf site, have PDF versions of the various Gazetteers.

As for the I, Strahd novel... well, all I can do is wish you the Lady's Luck in trying to find this particular novel. I know of very few RL fans who actually managed to obtain a copy of this novel a year after its release -- it is considered a very rare RL product by most devotees of the setting. It also has the most specific information of the Verzi, moreso than the Gazetteer.

As I recall, Ba'al is actually a Terg word, although I don't think any of the material on the cabal has actually translated what the word means. Therefore, I don't think they really could be connected to Bhaal unless you intend to just simply ignore the Terg basis for the word -- although, if that is the direction you wanted to go in order to bring the assassins into the Realms, then by all means...

For me though, given the ways of the cabal, I really don't see them fitting into the "lighter" atmosphere of the Realms, unless you intend on running a very "dark" campaign in terms of character alignments and adventure tone.

There is nothing about the gor-kethal in any of the tomes on Netheril, and I didn't find anything in any of the others 2e FR sourcebooks I looked in either. Perhaps these thieves were simply Mark's own creation for the short story as you suggested.
