What about right under Elven Court - the Dark Court Slaughter and all that. The entrances are likely sealed, but still there.

It was never particularly stated though, where the specific Underdark entrances were located... was it?

Recall reading somewhere that the drow while not being involved in the Weeping War exploited it by doing something, I thought the something was the Dark court slaughter

In 713 DR, the drow once again attack and conquer the Twisted Tower. This occurs during the length of the Weeping War. Given the concentration of elven forces elsewhere during the time, it might appear that the drow took advantage of a decreased elven garrison in the Twisted Tower.

If I remember correctly, the Dark Court slaughter was when thirty dwarven and elven lords who had laid aside their weapons to hold a meeting were ambushed by drow invading the surface. |

From Realmslore's A Grand History of the Realms -
quote: The Dark Court Slaughter: Drow and duergar attack and destroy Elven Court and Sarphil beginning at the start of the year on Midwinter Night. Within days, Elven Court is in ruins and Sarphil is occupied by the drow and duergar. The Dark Court Slaughter claims the lives of many clan leaders of Elven Court and both the Coronals of Rystall Wood and Jhyrennstar.

Thats the event I was thinking of and -4000 DR is to early for Dwarves in Cormanthor

There's at least one more entry in Shadowdale. It leads to Grinding Gulch, as featured in REF6 Lords of Darkness, but also mentioned in the Shadowdale booklet in the 2nd edn. Revised Boxed set.

Ok, IDHTBIFOM so I just typed from memory... if I'd had it to hand then I would have been able to look up where the entrance was exactly.
