IN the recent Maiden of Pain novel by our fellow beloved Writer one
"Kameron M Franklin" *SPOILER ALERT*---------------------------------*

*SPOILER ALERT*----------------------------------------------------*

In one of the final chapters of the book -- Ythnel made two statements in her playing with Naeros that I found quite funny.

1). "So you're the only one who gets to play rough, then? That's rather selfish, don't you think."

and

2). "I should have known you could dish it out but not take it".
this one I really enjoyed .

I thought Shandril was a riot, and Narm and Delg's interactions were always funny. I also thought the Shou thief (I can't remember his name) in Faces of Deception was hysterical.

I think my favorite laugh out loud moment was in the second Liriel novel, when Fyodor told Liriel that the people of Ruathym expected women to act the way men did in her society, and Liriel was rather upset when she thought she would have to "perform" on demand, thus enlightening Fyodor to aspects of drow society he never thought of.

Just thought of another one. In Spellfire, Torm's listening to a conversation Narm and Shandril are having in their bedchamber by hanging on the roof. His hand slips and he slides down, off the roof.

Fortunately he catches himself on a ledge a little below the window, unfortunately crushing the small bird in the nest upon that ledge. He looks down at the bird under his fingers and says, essentially, "Oh, yuck."

The bird cranes its neck up at him and replies in Elminster's voice, "How do you think I feel?"

This is the only post I saw where someone typed out a scene in detail rather than "remember when so-and-so did such-and-such (with about as much detail as that... )

I'd almost want to read those as I like reading about Torm in novels..

Evil will be dealt with swiftly as it is my duty to remove such evil from my presence.

That reminds me . . . another good one was the flash back in Elminster in Hell of Ratham and Torm . . . I was at work when I got to the part about them rolling down the stairs and had to keep myself from laughing out loud.

Ah, lets see, two come strongly to mind

"Are you familiar with the Tensor?" *starts casting a spell*
"Tensor? Tensor, tensor... OH NO!"

And who can forget Torm's interraction with Sylune's body before she posesses it in Shadows of the Avatar. Dressing her up in lewd clothing and putting her in suggestive poses in the shop window? The way that whole scene played out makes me laugh so hard to this day.

"Come looking for me, and I will blast you to dust, and then lay waste to all your descendants, ancestors, and the realm you came from, every last tree and stone of it. Why? Well, it's what I usually do."

In Realms of Magic, the story 'The Luck of Llewellyn the Loquacious' was, in my opinion, a greatly amusing tale. I actually didn't know there were any anthology stories set in Halruaa.
One scene was particulary funny, Quote:
And now, well, here Llewellyn was, content (relatively), sound (thankfully), and safe (miraculously). And almost (no - completely) asleep.
End Quote.
I love the use of brackets in the story (especially when referring to the gnome), and Llewellyn is the perfect example of a rogue whose verbal eloquence can extricate his person from any excrutiatingly difficult circumstances. Sorta reminds me of Kiser from BG2ToB, but much less slimy and much more funny.

So sayeth the Smyther, the Dark Bard of Amn.

More of this NPC can be found in 2e's Campaign box set. :)

For some of us, books are as important as almost anything else on earth. What a miracle it is that out of these small, flat, rigid squares of paper unfolds world after world, worlds that sing to you, comfort and quiet and excite you... Books are full of the things that you don't get in real life - wonderful, lyrical language, for instance, right off the bat. - Anne Lamott, Bird by Bird

Yes, I run many of my starting groups through the Shadowdale adventure. However, I always keep encounters with him to a minimum, because I feel I can never present him right and don't want to do it badly. Sigh. I'm just not over-the-top enough in the proper ways.

Doggedly converting 3e back to what D&D should be...
Sigh... And now 4e as well.

I'll admit this quote I found quite hillarious and made me chuckle a bit:
Taken from The Ogre's Pact by Troy Denning
quote:
The scout hoisted the beast by its legs and could not help noticing that the thing was a male. "And that churl called me stupid," he muttered. "Greta indeed!"

(I realize this is a long dead post, but it's the only one that I found through the search engine)

Any Lone Wolf fans? Old school gamebooks from the 80's? They are being re-released/updated, and new books 29-32 being written: http://www.mongoosepublishing.com/novels/lonewolfsolo.html

Dwarves often make me laugh, especially Salvatore's dwarves. Pikel runs a fine line between funny and annoying. Bruenor's got some good ones off. Jarlaxle just cracks me up. I'll have to think on some specifics, for awhile, and come back.

I always laugh when thinking about the verse that comes from Danilo Thann's singing sword.
