For power, El and the Simbul. For fighting, Entreri and Jarlaxle. For comic relief, the Bouldershoulders.
Also, runners-up include Alias and Dragonbait, along with the Wyvernspurs. Go Cat!

I must say I liked the Drizzt/Catti-brie suggestion. Just look at the cover of the Legacy of the Drow series.
I have to agree with Josh here...
Belkram and Itharr are my two favorites, as well as Rathan and Torm. It's unsettling that they weren't on the original post's list. Have we forgotten these great heroes already? Belkram and Itharr are in the Shadows of the Avatar trilogy, and Torm and Rathan can be found in the Shadows of the Avatar trilogy, Spellfire, and Crown of Fire. Go...

"That's right, hurl back views that force ye to think by name-calling - 'tis the grand old tradition, let it not down! Anything to keep from having to think, or - Mystra forfend - change thy own views!"
Narnra glowered at her father. "Just how am I to learn how to think? By being taught by you?"
"Some folk in the Realms would give their lives for the chance to learn at my feet," Elminster said mildly. "Several already have."

Another excellent duo.
I'll third that .
I would welcome reading more about these two, I think.

For me? I say in terms of combined power to meet a important objective, I say: 1) Caledan Caldorien and Ferret would be good. 2) Telamont Tanthul and Elminister (I know it is impossible but surly when both work together, their power would be magnified a hundred fold against foes such as the phaerimm or Zhentarim.) |
Justice is swift and will strike when you least expect it. |

Telamont Tanthul and Elminister working together? Hmm...that sounds interesting but I think it will be hard to get the two to work together. |
We have fostered trust, recruited loyalty, and gathered the faithful. We have trained thousands. Our legions can cover the land, fill the sky and travel through the darkness. We can hunt any and all that would deny our heritage.
