From various sources : "Somewhere deep in this forest is the overgrown tomb of Reluraun, a warrior-hero of the elves, who is said to lie in his vault clad in magical elven chain mail, with a sword +2, dragon slayer upon his breast."
I plan to make my players (evil characters, see other topic named A new campaign) to stumble across this tomb will hunting a band of wood elves in Ardeep Forest.
I need some suggestions for guardians of the tomb, or appropriate traps or other ideas.
There is only one thing I dont want to do, it's Reluraun's ghost, they already have made a ghost rest in a previous adventure.
Thanks.

Well it is woods, I would expext guards to be of woods, if any.
The quotes you provide indicate the tome is not maintained, allowed to be over grown. This could be in respect for wishes of Reluraun to return to nature or an indication of no human/huminiod care takers exist now. This is up to you.
As to traps or guards there may no longer be any at all. The tome though could be inside a living tree providing no door at all.
Nature guards include, Ents, bears, plants and magic wards. |

Ooops, I forgot a part of the quote :
"According to legend, the tomb is not unattended; magical creatures guard Reluraun's remains."
You'll now better understand my question :) |

Skeptic, did you find that from The North sourcebook?
For guardians, I guess helmed horrors would be the usual protectors of tombs and treasures. To make your campaign even more interesting, you should involve some Evereskan Tomb Guardians that will fight your PCs as this is an elven hero's tomb so it should be of some importance to Evereska too. |

Oh this becomes much more fun, Elven liches could be added to the mix, along with many of the Fey, Wood and water spirits, could very well be an Elven community in place as well to add to the protection. Tangleweed also might be near the tome as well as various animals. With magical creatures in the area the list becomes extremely long, you need to decide how difficult you want to make the task. For game purpose you might want to tone it down some, considering the reward is low should the grave be robbed. I do not see many traps being established, though wards against Evil might triger a few types of traps (magical traps trigered by alignment with evil component, darts, thorns, maze type of things). |

Yeah from the North, City of splendor, Dragon magazine, they all repeat the same entry for Ardeep Forest.
What do you think of :
The tomb is guarded by an immobile Helmed horror (looking like a statue, covered of vegetation, etc.) When a evil creature touch the tomb, a wall of thorn imprison it near the tomb and the helmed horror is awaken ? |

Skeptic, you could also have the wards not only react against evil creatures but maybe non-elves also. After all, you know those xenophobic elves back then... |

I don't think it can be warded against evil creatures... Why? Because Reluraun is a CE ghost. Even if in your campaign he's since been laid to rest, the wards were established when the ghost was around, and I doubt the elves would ward away the ghostof the guy whose tomb they're guarding. |

I got my copy of Lost Empires today, I'll keep it to cannon source, so my PCs won't be able to explore it this time, maybe they will come back later.
Thanks for help.

The Lost Empires of Faerūn entry is based on "The Adventures of Volo: The Ardeep Forest" (Dragon #270), which indicates that Reluraun himself is in form akin to a wichtlin. The "Adventures of Volo" series also has the fullest write-up of the House of Stone, in #273. |

I'd love to see that, too, but from what I've read, it's about as likely as a novel about Bane's rebirth. |
