Well met
I seek thine assistance, fellow scribes...
I wish to collate brief overviews on all the short stories contained in the numerous Realms anthologies. The aim of this is to provide readers with brief information on each of the stories for the purpose of if the reader wishes to read about a particular subject or area of the Realms etc.
If any are willing to take on this project then it would be greatly appreciated and credit will be given, of course.
To date, the anthologies are as follows. remember, these are short stories so don't post too much information and give the game away
Realms of Valor Realms of Infamy Realms of Magic Realms of the Underdark Realms of the Arcane Realms of Mystery Realms of the Deep Realms of Shadow Realms of the Dragons Realms of the Dragons 2 (soon) Silverfall: Stories of the Seven Sisters The Best of the Realms - Book 1
Many thanks.

Great project, Alaundo. Here are thumbnail descriptions of my stories from the anthologies:
Realms of Valor: "The Bargain." Harper agents Arilyn Moonblade and Danilo Thann travel to Tethyr on assignment. While posing as a member of the assassins guild, Arilyn encounters a young assassin ambitious to prove his mettle--by stalking and killing her. This takes place between Elfshadow and Elfsong.
Realms of Infamy : "The More Things Change" tells the story of Elaith Craulnober's fall from grace. The setting moves from Evermeet to Waterdeep.
Realms of Magic : In "The Direct Approach" (unpublished subtitle "Girls' Night Out in Skullport") Liriel Baenre and a time-traveling, female barbarian warrior match wits during a slapstick quest through the underground city. The story takes place during the brief interval between Daughter of the Drow and Tangled Webs.
Realms of the Underdark: "Rite of Blood" is a novella-length story describing a pivotal event in Liriel Baenre's early life. It takes place in Menzoberranzan and the surrounding tunnels. Chosen as one of the stories featured in Best of the Realms, Book 1.
Realms of the Arcane : "Secrets of Blood, Spirits of the Sea" is a metastory--a story about a story. A wemic loremaster shames his inquisitive elven captors with a tale about curiosity taken to extremes: the legend of the sahuaguin's creation. This story is set in the distant past, before the Crown Wars, and focuses on the relationship between a Illithiri (dark elf) necromancer and his wemic captive.
Realms of Mystery : "Speaking With the Dead" revisits Arilyn Moonblade, Danilo Thann, and Elaith Craulnober. It takes place after Silver Shadows and before Dream Spheres. When Elaith Craulnober is accused of murdering a gnome illusionist, Danilo has the difficult (and ironic) task of proving Elaith's innocence.
Realms of the Deep : "Fire is Fire" is set in Waterdeep during the attack by sea creatures. It is told in dueling first-person narrative: a young wizard, eager to fight beside his mentor Khelben Arunsun, faces off against one of the sahuagin invadors.
Realms of Shadow : "A Little Knowledge" is set in Halruaa. A failed jordaini teams up with a mad sorcerer whose "gift" is the ability to see the future--in all its possible outcomes.
Realms of the Dragons : "Gorlist's Dragon" tells of a pivotal event in the early life of Gorlist, one of the drow villains from the Starlight & Shadows trilogy. Set in the slums and gladitorial arenas of the Underdark city of Chad Nesad, it tells the story of Gorlist's magical dragon tattoo, and sheds light on the implicable hatred he later develops for Liriel Baenre.
The Best of the Realms - Book 1 : "Rite of Blood," a novella-length story originally printed in Realms of the Underdark.

My list isn't quite as long as Elaine's but here goes:
Realms of Mystery: "Lynaelle." Lynaelle Dawnmantle is a half-elven orphan apprenticed to a wizard in the small logging hamlet of Galen's Ford. She awakens one morning to discover that she is accused of her mentor's murder and must prove her own innocence. Galen's Ford is in the Silver Marches.
Realms of the Deep: "The Star of Tethyr." Merrick, a young man serving in Tethyr's navy, finds life as a sailor less than adventuresome -- until the whole port comes under attack from creatures of the sea. The story takes place on Thordentor Island.
Realms of the Dragons: "Waylaid" revisits Lynaelle Dawnmantle as she finds herself caught in a blizzard in Silverymoon Pass and gains some unexpected company along the way.

Realms of Shadows: "The Fallen Lands." During the Phaerimm War, the wizard Arklow is the last survivor of a adventuring company massacred in the Fallen Lands en route to Evereska. He joins forces with a group of Uthgardt warriors of the Thunderbeast tribe to break an army of the phaerimm's orc mindslaves. But accord between Arklow and the magic-shunning barbarians proves fragile.
Realms of the Dragons II: "The Strength of the Jester" concerns the mercury dragon Trinculo and his wild elf companion Khalt as they're drawn into a corner of the Rogue Dragons conspiracy and sent on a peculiar mission to find a solution to the Rage. |

I'm late, I see. My apologies.
Realms of the Dragons II: My story is entitled "Freedom's Promise." It involves a blue dragon and is set in the desert Raurin.
The story takes place both in the present year and a few hundred years ago. It shows (or that is to say that I hope it shows) a different side of dragons than we're used to seeing in most tales, and how a dragon might deal with qualities usually attributed to them as a race displayed in others. It focuses on the issues of greed and, of course, freedom, and how incompatible the two can sometimes be.
Note: Thanks to Elaine for covering me on that one. I've edited the original post to reflect her catch. |

Alaundo, since my novels are all packed up right now while we are in the process of moving, I thought I could do a few overviews from the short stories in Dragon.
"Another Name for Dawn" by Paul S Kemp, Dragon 277. A killer named Vasen Coriver becomes a traitor to the Night Masks and must escape Westgate. In an attempt to help his student escape, Vasen's teacher, Theevis, removes Vasen red hair to change his appearance. Vasen tries to make it out of Westgate alive, taking on the name Erevis Cale.
"And All the Sinners Saints" by Paul S Kemp, Dragon 297. Cale comes to terms with his relationship with Mask, and with Riven, whose fate seems to be intertwined with his own. |

Hunched over my desk in these hallowed halls of Candlekeep (and with Alaundo's whip cracking every now and then) I have managed to compile a list of the short but wonderful tales of the Realms. Included are the overviews by the Sages themselves, and the few overviews that I have managed to squeeze in. This is certainly a work in progress, but I thought I'd post it here for review by the Scribes. Please bring my attention to any errors or omissions.

Well met
Indeed, Sage. In fact, this is the reason I initiated this scroll, so that once complete, we have a good overview of all short stories of the Realms

Great work, Xysma. Three omissions I notice at a casual glance:
Author credit (Ed Greenwood) missing from “Living Forever”
Two website entries missing for Ed, too: 1. His first Spin A Yarn tale 2. Revenge Among Thieves, the fourth Elminster Making Of A Mage outtake, posted on the website about a month ago
Oh, and Ed’s hilarious Silverfall “character profile” fiction piece is on the website, too.
Nevertheless, nicely done. love, THO
