Anyone have a UK release date for it? Amazon.co.uk has it pegged at 30th March.

Life is either daring adventure or nothing.

Don't do that to me, Dargoth! You had me thinking it was out and that I was stuck waiting until next week (when I get paid again) to get it!

Well, you gotta love the mailman that brings you The Rite, Mistress of the Night and Lost Empires of Faerűn...

So far it looks very interesting, though I only had a chance to flip through it. This book will certainly see a lot of use since my campaign draws heavily on Netheril and the return of Shade.

One feat that I really liked, mostly because it mimics a game mechanic introduced in Monte Cook´s Arcana Unearthed, is Arcane Manipulation. It basically allows you to unravel higher level spell slots into several lower level slots, i.e. if you use a 3rd level slot to power a 2nd level spell you don´t lose the remaining spell slot, but get to use it for a 1st level spell.

I also like the Olin Gisir PC, the idea of an elven keeper of dark secrets really appeals to me and adds to the mystery of a truly long-lived race.

I know this is more about mechanics than content, but from looking through the book I´m sure the rest is well worth the wait and money as well.

Oh, and yes, I do live in Germany.

With every product/novel, it seems there is a certain area that gets it ahead of the rest. For everyone else the middle of February is apparently when we can anticipate being able to purchase this product.

Better not be. I dropped my $25 certificate on Amazon for this book, Realms of Infamy (the only Realms of I was missing), and 2 other books all for $10 with free shipping. :)

Better not be? You expect it sooner?

Speaking of Amazon. Since I order from Amazon so much as do two others in my house, I'm going to probably join Amazon Prime which provides for $79 annually, free two-day shipping on any orders. Anyone else heard about this deal yet?

Now if I can only get Amazon to get WOTC products the same time as B&N and BAM.

This brings to mind an argument I had with a woman in a bookstore, once. She insisted that she'd already read a particular novel in paperback, despite the fact that it had just come out in hardcover about two months previously. I pointed out that with that particular writer, his books never went to paperback in less than a year. Her response? "Well, in some parts of the country, books come out sooner than in other parts."

That was when I just walked away...

More worried about it coming out earlier and Amazon shipping it later in March. :)

No I haven't heard of it. If free 2-day shipping is all they offer, not really worth it for me. However, I love the Amazon.Com credit card. :)

Walked or stomped? She was partially right, the UK gets Martin and Feist before the U.S. I think it has something to do with compensation for the American Revolutionary War's outcome.

Amazon is horrible at times, in my experiences, with getting the FR gaming products later than any other online vendor.

Well, I'm not Talinfein, but I'm from Germany and in the possession of thr book.

So here we go, Dargoth...

The Spells:

Aura of the Sun (Clr4/Pal4)
Backblast (Wiz/Sor3)
Bloodbriars (Drd4,Sor/Wiz4)
Clearstone (Sor/Wiz3)
Crushing Sphere (Sor/Wiz6)
Ebon Ray of Death (Asn3, Sor/Wiz4)
Ghost Pipes (Brd1)
Know Bloodline (Clr3)
Mailed Might of the Magelords (Sor/Wiz5)
Nar Fiendbond (Clr7, Sor/Wiz7)
Nezram's Amethyst Aura (Sor/Wiz3)
Nezram's Emerald Energy Shield (Sor/Wiz4)
Nezram's Sapphire Screen of Shielding (Sor/Wiz5)
Ray of Resurgence (Clr1, Sor/Wiz2)
Sakkratar's Triple Strike (Sor/Wiz5)
Sandblast (Sor/Wiz6)
Shalantha's Delicate Disk ((Sor/Wiz6)
Srinshee's Spell Shift (Sor/Wiz9)
Storm Shield (Drd3/Clr3)
Sun Scepter (Clr6)
Theskyn's Hearty Heave (Sor/Wiz2)
Toothed Tentacle (Sor/Wiz2)
Tyche's Touch (Clr2)

As far as Bhaal and Myrkul are concerned, both these two and the other dead gods received a very short paragraph that talks about their portfolios and how they died. A table lists the dead gods domains (in Moander's case the Vile Darkness domain Corruption is along his domains), their favored weapon (w/out name) and their alignment and portfolios.

Ah, btw, finally bhaalspawn are canonized in a very short sentenced in Bhaal's description.

If other questions arise, feel free to ask, I'll be around for a while.

Happy gaming

Fascinating...

If you can summarise the basic details, I'd like to know how this was justified in canon?

Well, now trying to summarize one sentence.

It just says that Bhaal left a host of Bhaalspawn behind, who descended from him and try to regain his former divinity.

I'm afraid that's all. No other explanation or justification.

The Fallen Deities that each receive one or two short paragraphs of description are:

Amaunator
Auppenser
Bhaal
Gilgeam
Ibrandul
Leira
Moander
Myrkul
Ramman
Tchazzar

That's it.

HAHAHA. I don't want to say, "I told you so," to some people but I have to so! See I told you for years, Dargoth, that they were canon! :)

For some of us, books are as important as almost anything else on earth. What a miracle it is that out of these small, flat, rigid squares of paper unfolds world after world, worlds that sing to you, comfort and quiet and excite you... Books are full of the things that you don't get in real life - wonderful, lyrical language, for instance, right off the bat. - Anne Lamott, Bird by Bird

Yeah, but they are also mostly dead, aren't they?

My principal issue with the BG series is that the events are not covered in the source books for example theres no mention of Saradash being razed to the ground by an army of Fire Giants

While it would seem that WOTC have embraced the concept of Bhaalspawn we wave yet to see if they embrace the events in the BG series.

I imagine well have to wait for a "Empires of the Sand" source book before well find out unless theyve mentioned the sacking of Saradash in a timeline or something in LEOF

Smirks, then what is Lost Empires if not a sourcebook? Just admit it, your wrong. Also this further proves that the novels are canon. It's also amusing that WOTC redid thier novel web site and they kept the BG novels in that list.
