1) There was an Elminster's guide to in dragon with a cross-section of the Halfway Inn. Does anyone know what issue that was?
2) Waaay back, Dragon published these D&D character sheets that had hand drawn pictures as the border of the CS. Anyone remember what issue that was?

Well NeverWinter Night does appear the have "The Halfway Inn" in at least one of its shards.
Also _Volo's Guide to the Sword Coast_ should contain some information. Though if not in inventory already is no longer a free download.

http://www.aeolia.net/dragondex/articles-author.html offers the list which includes 5 "Elminster's Notebook" the resource may not be prefect, it does appear to cover much, one way or another.
