There ara (of course) 3 rules to endings..
1st; Good always wins.
2nd; Evil always returns
3rd; The first rule doesn't always apply.. :)

anyway.. well met fellow sages..

IF THERE IS LIFE AFTER DEATH, THERE IS NO DEATH.
AND IF DEATH DOES NOT EXIST, WE DO NOT LIVE.

That is true. But we'd like the first rule to apply, wouldn't we?

I like your signature. Unfortunately philosophy makes my head ache, so we'll leave at that...

Anyway... welcome...

it is basicly based on how you define evil..
personally I dont see life (or unlife ) as strict lines. nor in blacks and whites but in shades of grey. So it is in nature in all things..
Balance is important.. If there is not evil, How can goodness prevails..?

It is a struggle which is eternal in nature.. "Evil", schemes and "good" reverts its plans.. but who gives "the good" rights to revert "evil"'s plans?
maybe the schemes s/he destroyed would benefit multiverse. maybe it was against 'some people's well being but, you can never know..
For example some "goody-no-shoes adventurer"s destroyed my plans ruling the multiverse. I was just about to purge "the Lady (of pain)" out of Sigil and control the city of doors. Which is in my oppinion the centre of the multiverse.. They destroyed my weak form. Thus cast me out of Sigil. They were victorious.. The current state of existance will continue to exist for quite a while. But is it perfect?! is this state of being is perfect? It could be if I rule.. But we'll probably never know

(By the way I was referring all this senseless speech to the Greatest Adventure of all times (in my humble opinion) "Die' Vecna Die!" which I game mastered and whole my players and I enjoyed it greatly. We had great philosophical debates during the game which was actually more fun than the game itself. Id like to introduce these goody-no-shoes sometime)

IF THERE IS LIFE AFTER DEATH, THERE IS NO DEATH.
AND IF DEATH DOES NOT EXIST, WE DO NOT LIVE.

Welcome to Candlekeep!

Feel free to ask any questions you may have... A lot of us have been Realms fans for years, and we know a thing or three about the setting. Plus, we've got some of the authors and creators here!

As for the rest of us, we are friendly, mostly harmless, and occasionally strange... Enjoy your stay!

You think THOSE were bad...

Once I was playing in someone else's game, years ago. The party was wandering through the woods, and came upon a stretch of lifeless, ashy soil. In the midst of this clearing was a gnomish fellow, jumping up and down, yelling: "Stay back!"

I immediately piped up: "Hmmm. Must be Gnome-Man's Land."

If I recall, dice were soon pelted at me. Ah, the pee-ooty of buns. And spoonerisms.

Thanks Wooly Rupert dead man (nor undead)doesnt have adrenal glands, nerves or feelings at all.. It takes much more just to offend one..

Melfius Id come by to the kitchen soon. But we "Lich"es feed on books n knowledge. As a pixie you have accumulated lots of interesting lore I think.

Oldskool I can have an hand or and an eye anytime I wanted. Thanks to my mastery of "the art". Why I roam around with one hand and one eye then? Simple.. It serves to remind me off all my past misfortunes and mistakes. Your puns are appriciated.

Lets see if this works now. Last time I quoted it didn't go too well...

I'll leave those "What's evil?" things to philosophers and just focus on those shades of grey, as you said. I actually like dark grey, it's a peaceful colour.

We discussed about this with few of my friends and we ended up in this: pure goodness (if it's intentions aren't true) is closer to evil than those shades of grey in between. But pure evil isn't close to goodness, so it's not too even, is it? I'm not going to start a discussion on definition of evil, don't worry...

In my own humble opinion if it's intentions aren't true than it is not pure goodness.
pure goodness is such a special thing that can be found in lover to lover or mother to her children
then, a lot of villains can be counted as a good lover, or a good mother or a good father.. And if you assasinate someone for your country or revenge killing his wholo family and burning his home down. so no one could track you. and you instilled the right amount of fear in the hearts of common folk so no one will bother you (a lich, a vampire) any more

there are the things that I can say to your this quote;
quote:

I don't often think before I speak (or write...) and so people often misunderstand me. I've got used to that, don't worry...

What I meant was that (I could use an example from WOT (Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan) here, but I'll skip, Alaundo has that staff of irritated moderator -thing) often those who work for goodness (in WOT I'd say the red ajah, but I don't) often in the other hand work for evil (that is in WOT the black ajah). Not intentially of course.

I didn't use the WOT examples there, as you noticed ... I just didn't come up with a similar example from FR. And I messed the whole explanation thing completely up. Hope you'll figure it out...
