No?

In some ways it indicates a book can be speed read, however in someways it does appear to indicate that some time tkes place. Why else the duration?

That would be a nice spell to have, think of all the hours you'll save from reading books in seconds.  Of course that would make it a little harder for authors, they'd have to quadruple output to meet with the demands or we'd have to wait longer for sequels. Not good! Patience is just not one of my virtues.  |

Well there are collections od scrolls you know, a lot out there to read. This might take some preasure off writters, should you visit a collection of scrolls, but also might result in less copper relaid to those that made the scrolls.
It is very hard to make a full time living writting books, though some have done so. |

Yes, well... I find it difficult reading e-books. Can't seem to get into the flow of the storyline, especially when you over scroll (very easily done if your mouse has a wheel) and have to go back and find the section again. |

That can be operator error, though there certainly is a difference reading on screen then reading ink and paper.
Those that have the resourses of course can print out an ebook. |

That's why you use "spacebar" or "page down" . . . in Netscape and IE, that'll scroll you down an HTML copy almost one full view's worth, with a little of the text you just left at the top of the screen.
Reading -- if I'm just reading it, not editing -- a text-manipulation file is annoying. I always go to an HTML view if I can simply because of the greater ease in scrolling. |

Well maybe it is operator error, but I still find it hard reading mobile text than stationary ones. I would print out an e-book but there's that saving the rainforest campaign going on.  |

Personally, I like ebooks. I still need the physical version around -- there's nothing like the feel of a book in your hands -- but when moving around, I can load an ebook into my laptop or PDA and read while waiting for a class to start or even while waiting in line.
I think more things should be available electronically, really. I'd love some e-textbooks.  They get so heavy to carry around. |
