And the new Candlekeep is...

THE FLEA MARKET!!!!

Yes, that's right. My uncle took me there on Saturday and I found a warehouse that had LOADS of books. And I mean LOADS. I could hardly fit in the aisles.

Anyhoot, I found a CACHE of old FR books. LOTS. TSR versions. There were RAS ones, a couple EC, a couple Harpers and many others. A lot of them I already owned, but I did find a few that I'd been looking for, including Azure Bonds, which I have the two sequals to. I was very happy.

Anyway, these are the books that I found:

1. Azure Bonds-- Jeff Grubb and Kate Novak (Book 1 of Finder's Stone Trilogy)
2. The Parched Sea-- Troy Denning (Book 1 of Harpers)
3. Prophet of Moonshae-- Douglas Niles (Book 1 of Druidhome Trilogy)
4. The Coral Kingdom-- Douglas Niles (Book 2 of Druidhome Trilogy)
5. Horselords-- David Cook (Book 1 of Empires Trilogy)
6. Dragonwall-- Troy Denning (Book 2 of Empires Trilogy)

Any comments?

My first 2 trilogies were obtained from charity shops- thrift shops in the USA I think. And they were enough to get me hooked. So hooray to people stupid enough to get rid of FR novels

No, sorry, Alaundo. The only EC books there were Tangles Webs and Elfsong, I believe. Sorry.

I actually found my copy of Evermeet for $5 (USD) at a one-time-only overstock sale I happened to pass by. Hardback, mint condition (sadly, not leatherback ).

I've been living off the stupidity oversight of others for years; except for a few particular titles that I can't wait for, I generally prefer to get the cheap version. (Or, for some titles, I know someone who will sell it to me at a large discount. )

It's actually one of the main reasons I haven't gotten as many FR books as I could have over the years. Frankly, I'm spoiled by used prices. And you can get all sorts of nice deals relatively quickly -- I got my copy of The Rage at a used bookstore about a month after it hit the shelves.

Hell hath no fury like all of Candlekeep rising in defense of one of its own.

I used to hit a local used bookstore all the time, but eventually I started buying all my novels new -- the used bookstore was nice, but it was too hit-or-miss for me.

Some WotC products I prefer to get from eBay, because it's usually a lot cheaper.

Yeah. Unfortunately, I've only run into a few of those. One I found while going to a festival near the coast. When I entered, I immediately asked the clerk at the desk, "Where's the fantasy and scifi section?" They led me all the way to the back room. I caught my breath. Three bookshelves, expanding across more than half the room and more than eleven shelves high and six feet across were loaded with FR books. I almost had a heart attack.

Bargain bins at Waldonbooks are usually good, but by far I prefer Half-Price books where I can get hardbacks for $5-$6US. I usually spend about $30 there in one trip (before my wife starts turning red and talking about bills!)

I wish we had one of those around here... My sister in Texas lives near one, and she shops there frequently.
