I am wondering how the laws work in well ordered lands.
I m asking a question that involves both how the law enforcers of the small towns act and the big cities?
I think there are several official examples in the tomes already in the library but I would love to see what the scribes of the fabled candlekeep think about this isue and know the lore that is known by them.

If you want to read about a trial in a small FR town read the Avatar trilogy particularly book 2 Tantras.

Generally speaking Id say for small towns the the person or persons who rule likely act as Judge, Jury and Executioneer. Large cities or nation states likely have a seperate "judiciary" purely because there are to many crimes comited and subsequent trial to run for the rulers to participate in every case

some cities or areas of land have a kind of police force, such as the Flaming Fist of the Sword Coast, or the Warriors of Amn, or the Mercykillers, the Red Death of Sigil
