If a Demon was Entrapped in the north, which Groups in the Realms would actively seek to prevent the release of the Demon?
I feel that if the Clergy of Helm recieved information about this they would be one, Obviously the Lords alliance.
Additionally I feel that the Shades would perhaps take a quiet role to help Prevent the release of such a demon. The danger of it damaging or even destorying ancient Netheril artifacts or disrupting their digs would be enough to perswade them to help. Of course the shades would be a shadowy group working in the back group with no one 100% clear who they are.
What are you opinions on this?

I guess this ain't an official event( if it is please tell me the source then I would learn about it).
But I guess first a venturing party would see that demons deeds. Then if those deeds rediate a threat that would hurt not only the northern kingdoms but also the anarauch desert, I bet the shade lord would step up. But if his researches are not touched by the outcomes of the demon then he would be more then pleased to see the lord's alliance crushed.
Ps: I don't know a way to enprison a demon in a certain place in prime material planes. Thus I would learn how it happens either in a official way or not.

Its not an official or Canon Scenario, it is possibly going to be the background of my latest campaign. The players will find themselves in chaotic events where several organizations and people are attempting to Free a Demon and others (including some that you wouldn't expect) are trying to prevent the demon from being released- even to go as far as Banishing it. I was thinking of bringing the Shades in as one of the parties attempting to destroy the demon.
Thats the plot in a nutshell, the plot will never be revealed to the players in its entirety. The whole way through the campaign there will be unknown forces acting around about them and more than once they WILL be misdirected. Infact with any luck the player's wont know about the demon until half way through the campaign.

Plot seems good but I would place the forces of the shade against the good doers. Cuz they will probably benefit from the acts of a raging demon in north eventhough it cannot spoil the power balance there.
That's my thinking. If I were ploting a very powerful demon could be summoned by wanna be tyrant that wants to increase increase his power destoying his rivals fighting with the forces of demon. That demon could be an enemy of a city not the entire north. That city might have some importance to the shade lord thus his power may allign with the good doer adventurers.
Sorry,eventhough you haven't want any wise-ass opinion of a seeker, I couldn't help myself. |
