I've got a CG sorcerer player and he has taken the leadership feat. He wants to create a rogue/cleric of Mask as a cohort. Mask is a NE deity and he needs to have his cohort within one step of the deity according to the PHB, but I'm not 100% sure how many alignment steps his cohort can be from the PC. He is thinking possibly CN for the cohort, but isn't that more than 1 step away from the deity? "I" think so, but wanted to get other peoples advice, ie. rules lawyers.

I personally would rule that the cohort, NOT the god must be within one alignment step....as in
Lawful Good
Neutral Good
Chaotic Good
Lawful Neutral
Neutral
Chaotic Neutral
Lawful Evil
Neutral Evil
Chaotic Evil
.........In this case, the "one-step rule" would out rule out the use of a CN cleric/rogue as the cohort...but as a DM I have to say that rules are meant to be broken, and if the PC truly believes that Mask would not mind having a CG sorceror around, then I would see no reason not to have them together....just make sure that your sorceror watches his back...... |
