What's your favorite quote in the fr products

One i like a lot is (i translate for french) "the past doesn't exist anymore, the future not yet, so let's drink to the present"
It comes from the spine of the world.

Does it have to be FR related?

That would be the nicest wouldn't it... I know there's lots of non FR quotes around, just look at peoples signature files. Let's not flood the forum with those, and stick to FR related. And like zemd did, also refer to the source from which the quote came.

Here's my favorite:
What's more dangerous than a mage out to rule the entire world? Why, a mage at play, of course...

The Simbul, Witch Queen of Agalrond
Year of the Dark Dragon (1336 DR)

I found this quote in the anthology, Realms of Valor in the short story, Elminster at the Magefair.

Not sure if it's my all time favorite but I remembered it, and that must mean something.

Ye have enemies? Good, good that means you've stood up for something, sometime in thy life....
-Elminster of Shadowdale, speaking to a young Harper, Year of the Wyvern

Yes, it'd be better to be FR related. And not only your favorite ones. But the you just read an enjoyed, the one you just remember after posting the latter...

Remember this one from when Artemis is talking to Rassiter the wererat about an alliance.

"There is only 2 problems about us 2 working together. 1: I work alone, and 2: You are dead.
*Slides dagger into the back of Rassiter*

Something like that, trying to remember it off the top of my head.

A wise man from Calimport once told me: "If a merchant puts sand in the flask of oil he's trying to sell you, then he isn't trying to sell you sand..."

I have always liked:

"Evil creatures cannot sing." - Drizzt Do'Urden

and

"Sisters, it is good that we never met this day." - Matron Baenre

Oh, and while I don't think this one is particularly poigniant, I think that any FR reader with their salt will remember this one...(I laugh every time):

"Secondboys can be children." - Drizzt Do'Urden

My latest Realms-based short story, about a bard, a paladin of Lathander and the letter of the law, Debts Repaid. It takes place before the "shattering" and gives the bard Arion a last gasp before he plunges into the present.http://candlekeep.com/campaign/logs/log-debts.htm

pg. 144 Spellfire last paragraph.
With a bound and a flurry of beating wings the black dragon soared aloft from the city of cold stone and ready swords. Manshoon came with fire and fury to destroy the slayers of his beloved. Many have done so before, in more worlds than Faerun, and will again in days to come.

Isn't this a paraphrase of Oppenheimer the guy who primarily constructed the first nuclear bomb?

Indeed indeed, well done Artalis!

~Toasts a long draft of honeymeade in his direction~

Good to see another learned individual skulking about, for that is EXACTLY where Baldur's Gate got the quote!

Along the lines of BG quotes, one of my favorites was from Garrick the bard: "Music tames the savage breast..."

As in "Magic tames the savage BEAST..." Personally, I like Garrick's version better!

The truly amusing thing is that Oppenheimer was himself quoting something else...

""...now I am become Death [Shiva], the destroyer of worlds..."

Physicist Robert Oppenheimer, Supervising Scientist of the Manhattan Project
on 16 July 1945 at 0529 HRS,
in the Jornada del Muerto desert near
the Trinity site in the White Sands Missile Range.
... quoting from the Bhagavad-Gita upon witnessing the first atomic detonation by mankind.

The exact quote from the Bhagavad-Gita is:

If the radiance of a thousand suns
Were to burst at once into the sky
That would be like the splendor of the Mighty one ...
I am become Death,
The shatterer of Worlds."

Here is one of the quotes I found in one of my books.

We need to be reminded sometimes that a sunrise lasts but a few minutes. But it's beauty can be burned into our hearts eternally.

Well not really a favourite, just one I heard in a tavern once, apparantly some merchant was doing business in the Underdark, he came back with a little quote from the drow...

"Those who watch their backs meet death from the front."

Think that one applies to a lot of us!!

"Stealing teeth and still leaving folks with a smile!!"
