Greeting to all- I'm Aleta_Delryn
I was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to help me with a little problem I've got.
You see I'm trying to write a fantasy magazine (well it's actually for school- but I thought I'd still do it after the assignments done) & I want to do it on Forgotten Realms (what else?)
I was hoping that someone would send me some ideas- like best weapons to use when fighting a dragon or cooking when your on the run etc.

If you have an idea that I could use- I hope that you'll tell me (no pressure if you don't want to) Thank-you

If at first I don't succeed...the wife won't let me forget

Well met, Aleta_Delryn, and welcome to Candlekeep.

Oh i'm sure you will find many scrolls and tomes herein to help ye with thine assignment. Take a tour around the library proper to see what delights of Realmslore await.

In addition, I'm sure a fair number of our resident knowledgable scribes will be rushing o'er here shortly with all manner of aid

Good luck Oh, and would there mayhaps be a chance of us seeing the finished product?

Welcome to Candlekeep!

Feel free to ask any questions you may have... A lot of us have been Realms fans for years, and we know a thing or three about the setting. Plus, we've got some of the authors and creators here!

As for the rest of us, we are friendly, mostly harmless, and occasionally strange... Enjoy your stay!

Now, to answer your questions... magic, and lots of it! Use Bigby's Crushing Tactical Nuke to kill the dragon, and Leomund's Drive-Thru when you need food on the go. If the characters don't yet know those spells, then here's a fine opportunity for them to research them, or better yet, have to adventure to exotic locales in pursuit of such magics!*

*Bigby's Crushing Tactical Nuke lifted from Dork Tower. Not an actual spell, to the best of my knowledge. Leomund's Drive-Thru is a spur-of-the-moment idea, based off of the Leomund's Shelter spells.

I have food in my purse I just can't eat it b/c someone will steal my compy from me in this silly centre and I'll have to wait hours to get it back. I am very protective of my compy time :D so i'd rather starve myself than give it up unfortunately *laughs*

I wondered if anyone could anwser me a few questions about the Forgotten Realms computer games?

Icewind Dale:
When I'm in Kuldahar & I come back from the Vale of Shadows, I can't talk to Arundel. He's got nothing to say to me. Am I doing something wrong or is there a bug in that patricular bit?

Baldur's Gate 2 Shadow of Amn:
When I'm in the Planar Sphere, my character is a fighter-mage & I have the Sphere & the De'Arnise Keep as my Strongholds, I try to do the last event (a messanger tells me to go back to the Sphere) when Teos arrives & realises we've been set up, nothing happens. We're supposed to be attacked, but all that happens is some serious confusion on my side. What's happened there?

That's about all I can think of at the moment.
Thank-you to all who try to answer my questions

More Questions:
Where abouts can I find some information on famous people in Faerun?
For the computer games, where can I find a completed article about classes & races (the info in the game is pretty basic)?
Why in BG2: ToB & IWD can't you cast some spells? They say something about not right level, but I've almost never had a problem with it.
Where can I find some articles about Elminster? I've got some basic info at my home (my dad's huge collection) but it still leaves a few questions unanswered & a bit of guess work.

(I seem to be full of questions today)

Well, you aren't the only one with questions like this, here at the Keep we have a section solely for the FR computer games, and I am sure any of the knowledgeable people there could answer any questions you have about them in far greater detail and with more accuracy than I could.

As for the questions about realms lore(as story line and history is referred to) we have a section here specializing in that too, and I am confident that, again, one of the helpful scrivbes(or more probably several) would be happy to share with you some links and places in books to find any information you seek in those respects.

Shadows of War: Tales of a Mercenary

My first stab at realms fiction, here at candlekeep. Stop on by and tell me what you think.

Yeah, it took me a while to comb thru this site for the first time, too. Big Al seems determined to have the website live up to its namesake.

My own one is encountering a few managable problems- a few articles get deleted unexpedidly from my computer- so they need to be re-typed

They didn't go to the Recycle Bin, from which they could be easily recovered?

No they didn't
I think my sister accidently got into my files or something- or maybe my computer deleted the wrong file (which is strange caus I haven't deleted my files recently)

I've checked the Recycle bin several times- & I'm scanning my computer for the files (just in case someone moved them or I saved them in the wrong area)

Fingers crossed though
